I put in a JDm motor . My oil pressure gauge isnt working at all. The gauge lights up. I put in a new oil pressure switch. But I have two wires and only one prong on the switch. I took a look at my friends 90gsx and he has another unit on the back of the oil filter housing which the other wire goes to. I figured out that one wire powers the oil light to come on. The other onbe controls the gauge. i have the one hooked up for the oil light because when i hook up the other wire for the gauge the gauge goes to high and then slowly drops back down to low and stays there like its off. I know i have to hook it up to something else but to what? I have 2 other ports for switches on the housing. i fi get the same switch as i did for the oil light will it power the gauge properly?? Im lost on this one.:dsm:

Which gauge are you talking about? At first it sounds like an aftermarket gauge, then it sounds like stock.

You need to hook up the gauge to a sensor. I dont know what switch you are talking about. The stock sensor as far as I know only sends a signal to set off the oil light. An aftermarket sensor screws into the stock oil sensor location and hooks up to a gauge, which displays the oil pressure.

If you are talking about the stock gauge in the cluster...

Out of all the JDMs ive come across 90% do NOT have a stock oil pressure sensor or hole for it, its simply not drilled. You could replace your filter housing, drill and tap the hole for the sensor, or take out the idiot light sensor (at least for now) and put it in that location... I personally think the pressure gauge is more important then the idiot light.

The 1st JDM swap I did I did not realize this til I started it up and say no pressure reading... I had to pull the housing off drill it out and put it in, id rather see it drilled off the car since I dont think its soo wise to take a chance with metal getting into your oil.

The JDM engines come from Galant VR4's. On every Galant VR4 I've ever seen, JDM and USDM, they all have the correct holes for the stock idiot light and another hole that is plugged. They do not have stock oil pressure gauges, you just take the plug out of the hole next to the idiot light and put the sender there. I have had 4 JDM VR4 engines/front clips and they were all the same.
