My friend told me to buy 2.5 inch aluminum pipes to make me custom piping. I asked him where to buy it and what kind. His description was kind of vague and he told me to look on Ebay, and there are several different kinds of 2.5" aluminum pipes. I think this one might be the kind of set:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-5-TURBO-INTERCOOLER-PIPING-KIT-DIY-COUPLERS-CLAMP_W0QQitemZ8033313317QQcategoryZ33742QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
If this is not right, what kind of 2.5 piping set is correct for a FMIC ona 1g?

I wouldnt buy those pipes off ebay. i bought 2.5 inch 16 gauge exhaust pipe from summit, it works great and ive never had a problem with it.. If you buy alluminum pipes you will have to get it tig welded which is pretty expensive.

you can buy those, just make sure that you have the ends beaded or flared so that they dont pop off under higher boost levels. I bought a few u bends off of summit racing on ebay and they were about $30. Total cost for my piping and couplers and clamps was about $75. just make sure you look around. Theres lots of good stuff on ebay.

Yes ther is alot of good stuff on ebay, but ive heard bad things about the intercooler piping kits they sell. Just make sure you research before you buy..

how about you just go to SBR's site, or dsmotorsports, or many dsm sites that have DIY piping you can buy and just go through there. probably cheaper, and if not cheaper at least you know for sure you are buying what you need/want.

The pipe sizes and bends offered at DSM-specific vendors is not very broad, whereas ordering from Jegs/Summit/JCWhitney, etc gives you a wide variety of pipe sizes, materials, bends, etc, at very low prices.

Yup, most people use jegs pipping and cut it to their needs, including me.

I wouldn't pay 80 bucks plus shipping for 3 ubends man.Besides, you don't know what kind of couplers youll be getting. You gotta have 3-4 ply couplers with boost, home depot won't cut it under pressure.I get my piping from jc/jegs/summit or I go to a local high performance shop to get what i need.Once fitted,i'd take it out, paint it "OEM" style and call it a day.

I see what you guys are saying about going with an established vendor like Slowboy, DSMmotorsport, or Jegs, but the thing is, when I look at them, I have no idea of which exact pipes I need for my friend to make them. In a few minutes I'm gonna post the size of the intercooler once I find it.

thats why you buy a few U bends and just cut and test fit everything. it's the basics of fabrication man. cut and test, re-cut and re-test, fit, polish/paint/roll bead.

anyway, jegs or summit would be the way to go man. and just fab it up on your own and then have the friend weld/finish them off for ya.

personally, i didn't have that luxury. so i bought dejon pipes and a licp from import performance. oh well, i doubt i could have pulled it off fabbing it myself anyway. espically in this cold ass michigan weather.

oh well, good luck man. and post pics when you get it all together. i wanna see how well it works out for ya.

Also check out vibrant performance. I bought all of my bends needed to make my upper and lower intercooler piping.
