Anyone have an opinion on oil filters? I hear that there are lousy ones out there. Anyone have any hard facts on them?

Wasn't it the K&N filters that were falling apart internally? I swear I read that some where.
I have one on my car right now.

I'll NEVER ever put any FRAM filter on my car. Ever seen one cut in half? Scary. I use an Amsoil filter(short and fat). I get lifter tick for about 5 secs after starting my car then it goes away. Amsoil filters are "supposed" to filter to 4 microns. Mobil 1 is around 10-20 microns if i remember correctly. Thats still good, but the lower the microns the better, thats my .02
But i did find many threads that mentioned Amsoil and Mobil 1 filters are the best.
. With that system you only need to change the oil once a year, and the filters need to be changed twice a year i thinkOriginally posted by KenTSIII
Also Mobil one filters are really nice but a bit on the pricey side at $10 each.
. Check here they have the oil filters for like 4.50 but order more parts when you do it because the shipping will be like 7.89. I paid $8.50 for mine at the Mitsubishi dealer. All I got was the filter and a new ring for the oil plug.Originally posted by RocketDSM
So where would I find the Amsoil bypass system?
