I'd suggest useing ONLY a Mitsu Oil Filter.... I have yet to find any other brand of oil filter that has the built in check-valve......

This little check valve helps prevent oil from draining from places it shouldn't when the car is off, which in turn helps prevent lifter - tick.

I see a lot of people complaining about lifter tick/noisy lifters, and the first thing I tell them to do is use a OEM filter. Within one or two oil changes of useing only OEM Oil Filters, the tick is gone.

Wasn't it the K&N filters that were falling apart internally? I swear I read that some where.

Now your scaring me OMG I have one on my car right now.

Later,

Purolator Pure One seem to work really well. Also Mobil one filters are really nice but a bit on the pricey side at $10 each.

i suggest OEM mitsu oil filter...juss did my oil change last saturday...and well that's the only oil filter that touches my baby.....take it easy

JD

I think it's the K&N FUEL filters that break apart and mess up the car, not sure about the oil filters. But yeah, OEM Mitsu (make sure to get the O-ring too) are the best.

Hey this may be a stupid question but where can I pick up a Mitsu Oil Filter.

Cause if it's at a Mitsu dealer I guess I'm screwed until next summer when they start opening up them up here in Canada.

I was told (of course this is by the parts guy at Murray's) that the high-end fram and purolator and mobil-1 filers all have the anti-drainback devices on them now.

I ordered a K&N one anyways....eithe way, you're gonna spend about 10 bucks on an oil filter.

I actually got a Mobil 1 filter last night along with my no-tick Mobil 1 oil concoction. Does anyone know if it has the anti-drainback valve in it? I didnt see anything about it when I purchased it..
And damn.. I have to drop my freakin 3in DP everytime I change my oil:mad:

I didnt get an O ring w/my mitsu filter,wtf... Are you talking about the o ring for the drain plug(gasket?). All i got in the box was the filter and nothing else???

I'll NEVER ever put any FRAM filter on my car. Ever seen one cut in half? Scary. I use an Amsoil filter(short and fat). I get lifter tick for about 5 secs after starting my car then it goes away. Amsoil filters are "supposed" to filter to 4 microns. Mobil 1 is around 10-20 microns if i remember correctly. Thats still good, but the lower the microns the better, thats my .02

I also run an amsoil filter, they are made by hastings but are higher quality because they are made to amsoil specs. I also run Amsoil 10w-30 turbo formulated full sythetic oil also.

I'm full of POOP! i tried searching for a thread that said Amsoil filters down to 4 microns, and i couldn't find it. But i did find many threads that mentioned Amsoil and Mobil 1 filters are the best.

But if you were to run an Amsoil bypass filter system, it filters down to 1 micronOMG. With that system you only need to change the oil once a year, and the filters need to be changed twice a year i think

You know everyone says fram is not all that good.
Well my friend has a truck and the fram filter fell apart on it and he ended up blowing his engine all he did was send in some pictures of the torn up oil filter and fram replaced his whole engine free of charge.
Thats pretty good if you ask me.
Granted i wouldnt want my nice motor to be torn up but on all my other cars i use fram.
Just my .02 worth
I also ony use the oem filter.

If you have a K-mart going out of business near you, you are in luck. When the one here in south charlotte closed on the last day they had Mobil one filters for, are you ready, $1 whole dollar a piece! To say the least I "stocked" up.

I use the OEM filter for my car. It's made by Denso which I heard is a pretty good company, they make filters for the Toyotas. After I used the OEM and 15w50 Mobil 1 Syntech I don't have lifter tick anymore:D . Check here they have the oil filters for like 4.50 but order more parts when you do it because the shipping will be like 7.89. I paid $8.50 for mine at the Mitsubishi dealer. All I got was the filter and a new ring for the oil plug.

So where would I find the Amsoil bypass system?

I was looking into getting the bypass filters on my car, my dad has them on his 95 3.3 caravan and he hasnt changed the oil since 97, he gets an oil analysis done every year when he changes the oil filter. It comes up cleaner and cleaner every year. The reason I did not put them on my car is simply no room.

BTW, the regular amsoil filters are 4 microns. My dad is an amsoil distributor so I asked him.
