stafford,
Where would a really good, reliable place to get some good headwork done for an Eclipse GST?

THanks alot

Marty :)

Cough it up please :)

Oh and another question.

How much displacement can I gain if I bore my cylinders? Not at max, but at a mid range.. and how much HP would I be looking at in gain?

Thanks alot!

Marty :)

Oh hello... I have been lurking on the board for last 3 months or so. So Hi every one. :)

I don't know if Mr. Polk was talking about him self or not. But, I do know he is experienced porter has been doing it for years. Didn't he post some flow numbers, from some of his port work on 1G DSM heads, back a few months ago? Showed number numbers off he sheet metal intakes too IIRC? Anyway I did see a friends head that he ported for him... Looked like machine did it. Amazing really, when I try to port it looks like the 5 year old neighborhood kid down the street did it. Of course I can't draw a straight line ether. hehe :)

.5mm overbore which is the standard oversized piston that JE sells for a 4G63 will net you 123CDI which is 2.02L Its nothing to tear down a motor for, if your going to build a motor. Yeah do it. Personally overbore the engine 1mm and stroke that baby if your going to tear into the motor.

Can you go into a little more detail...

Im not to enlightened on this subject. What Im really curious about is if I add about 50 HP from boring, will it affect my car in a bad way? Or will the 50 HP be just an added bonus?

I.E. - A boost controller puts more strain... I don't like strain :-(

Thanks,

Marty :)

No strain... you not going to get 50HP from going with oversized pistons though... the number will much much lower than that.

There is only two way to blow a motor up (not including natural wear and forgetting to do routine maintainence) Detonation and sheer HP. I don't think you will bend a rod unless your making over 400 to the ground and detonation will kill even the best built motor. Well... I am not including the C word for the 7 bolt guys. :)

There is no "strain" on your motor with a boost controller. Unless you have the boost turned up so high that you are pinging on pump gas, then your motor will be short lived. Just use good judgement and change your oil and your engine will last quite a long time.

Of course when your making 400HP don't expect 100000 mile on that motor, but the guys who make 400 whp don't care about that. :)

Well ive heard that with increased boost comes increased wear on the crankshaft or something...

Hehe, wow. Im stupid.
