I've heard some people have had problems with their tubular manifolds burning their hoods. I don't mean like burn as in on flames, but maybe discoloring the hood or paint flaking off. So I was just wondering what people with tubular manifolds have to say about this. Is it true does it happen often? I was looking into a DNP tubular mani, and was planning on putting some of that heat protective stuff (the silver stuff that comes on the underside of a stock hood) above the manifold. I really like what I've heard about the manifold, I just don't want to get it if it's going to mess up my carbon fiber hood.

If You leave the heatsheild on the hood it should be okay. ive heard of some people after Years of running no heat sheild on a Cast manifold leaving some discoloration on a CF hood as far as the clearcoat goes. but no, ive never experienced any problems with that.

I'm not talking about a cast manifold....currently I don't have a heatshield on my cast manifold and no problems with my cf hood. But I'm wondering about a tubular manifold, you can't put a heat shield on that and it heats up the surronding air a lot more, not to mention they are taller and sit closer to the hood.

With a tubular manifold, and none of the padding on the hood, it could cause discoloration and bubbling of the paint after time. You can use heat wrap to prevent this. This will however take away the "prettiness" of the tubular manifold but will increase performance. The hotter the exhaust gas, the faster it moves. :thumb:
