Hey guys I just got alot of little issues on my car fixed up such as.

I only had a 0.4 bar spring in my wastegate which obviously caused
my wastegate to open WAY to soon. I now how have 1.1 bar spring in
the wastegate which is allowing me much better boost response.

I had a pretty large boost leak between the head and the intake
manifold. We pulled the intake manifold off yesterday to see the
surface was gashed from something. We replaced the intake manifold
and voila, no more leak.

I changed the plugs to a new set of NGK BP7ES gapped at 0.28, the
plug wires have been changed to Taylor 10.2mm wires, and the coil
pack was swapped out for a 91 style that I knew was working since I
had some issues with mine.

We cleaned up the surface for the knock sensor to make sure it had a
good ground and put a rubber washer on it to dampen it to try and
cut back on the knock sum I was see'ing.

From the general butt dyno the car is pulling harder now at 15psi
then it did at 20psi before but Im see'ing some pretty bad knock on
and I dont know how to defeat it.

Ive uploaded my log to my webserver, you can see it here if you have DSMlink or you can see the HTML version Ive linked to on that page as well..

Here is a copy of the default notes so you can see my DSMlink

Dead time: +180 us

As you can see I havent really made any changes to the fuel. I have
yet to set the LTFT and STFT as I just got the car running right
again last night.

Couple last things. My fuel pressure is still a little low. I have
a Charged Air AFPR and I have the lower base spring in it so I can
only get the fuel pressure to 40psi with the hose on and 30psi with
the hose off. I have to put the stronger spring in to get it up to
43psi but I did not have the right tool to do this yesterday. Damn
Charged air and their hex heads :)

Lastly my base timing is set to 8 degrees both on DSMlink and with a
timing light. We set them as close as possible, the DSMlink was
showing 7-9 degrees at idle and the timing light was showing 7-8
degrees at idle.

Im going to the dyno in 2 weeks and Ill be tuning with a wideband o2
but Id like to see if you guys can offer me any advice on my knock
issues before I head to the dyno.

One last thing, I had an encounter last night. I ran this LS1 TA on the highway last night. From a 65mph run in 3rd gear I pulled 2 about 2 car lengths on him to 100-110 ish at 15psi.. I was pretty happy with that.

and one more thing.. props to my mechanic Wess Hess for being a good guy and a great mechanic.. Any of you guys in this area should really look into him to do your work. He goes out of his way to help you out. His SN on here is Highpsi91 .

Well it's good to hear that you are working some of the bugs out. Oh ya, nice run on the TA, I know that had to feel good!!! Keep us updated after the dyno session. Later,
Cale

Congrats on the TA, I think it's an even fight though. Ya know..your car may be faster but I bet his girl looks better than this...

Heh anyway my suggestion would be to get that fuel pressure up and adjust your SAFC. Sounded more like you just ran out of time so I'm sure you'll get around to that. If you're still knocking like that you might try investing in some adjustable cam gears. You should be able to fine tune your intake and exhaust using them and you can mechanically make up for a constant lean or rich condition depending on the setup. Trying to explain this is more difficult than I thought. Hopefully someone can explain it better...

Took alot at your log larry ...I'm confused by a few things.. 1 is that on your 2nd pull, not really sure how fast you were going, nor what gear, but you tps was only around 7x i think, but your RPM's was around 7000. Plus the 2nd time you did hit the 7xxx rpm barrier, it knocked BIGTIME. Very odd indeed. If I new what to tell you I would, but I'm having knock issues myself and can't figure it out yet, but then again I havn't looked. I think I might have some boost leaks, or I got some bad gas.

It looks to me that the knock could be caused sinced your so PIG RICH. I know the A/F isn't to be taken as the gospel, but its still a decent indicator. You might want to try leaning it out up top around 5k and up..start out taking out 5% accross the board from 5k-8k and see what that does. I mainly just do 3rd gear pulls myself. Could you add speed to that log? I too was getting knock up high, but not THAT much. Your check engine light should have been going off with more than 5 degrees of knock. I've heard that 3 degrees is negligable on the dsmlink, but I like to zero knock if I can. Is that a stock flat fuel and timing adjustment (ie 0% adjustment accross the board aside from your 31% global adjustment for fuel?) The best I could do today was without any knock was like 15 degrees of timing which SUX. Anytime i added some timing or tried to lean it out more, it would knock around 3, but I would also make a few more degrees of timing ..around 17 max. Anyhow, not to get off topic, I would also try turning up the boost some and then try tuning it...from the looks of it, that is still your 15lbs right given the a/f lbs/min

I should have clarified that log is a 1-2-3-4 run from 0-120mph or so.. It wasnt at WOT cuz I was backing off the thottle to get traction as I was pulling into traffic on I95 late at night..

I think that my air/fuel is wacked personally. Im thinknig my o2 sensor is prolly no good. The plugs look a lil white so if anything Id say Im running to lean, not to rich.

and yes that was only 15lbs of boost.. Im going to set my LTFT and STFT this week and then turn the boost up to 20psi and see what I can do then.
