--===I'm new to turbo power===--

How do all of you get the power to the ground? I have a 97 gs-t (stock) with 62k miles. I just replace the timing belt and did the 60k service (I bought the car used- for peace of mind) and can spin/smoke my yokohama's through 1st gear. I wouldn't mind doing some performance/power upgrades, but if I'm already spinning the crap in 1st...why bother???

Oh, the suspension is stock as well...

any thoughts???

I stay on the clutch a lil longer, Its not good for the clutch so I dont do that too often.
take it to the track an try different techniques an see which 1 works for you. oh and a dual stage boost controller can help

If I launch my car between 2000 and ~2400 rpm I don't really get wheel hop and minimal spin with correct clutch release. One important thing to remember is not to ever just drop the clutch, you have to kindof feather it out at the point of engaugement (correct spelling?). Time and practice makes perfect, driving skills will win or lose a race for you in a heart beat. For instance, stock vs. stock, I took a 98 GSX by almost a full car length in less than a quarter mile stretch from a stoplight. Good luck and happy boosting...:thumb:

lower the air pressure in your fronts, ride the clutch, get some adjustable shocks, low setting in front, tight setting in back. Look out for wheel hop. Got wheel hop a few times myself. Nothing like going back to tech insp. to get another w/s # because your w/s wipers come on from the hop and wipe the # off.

3000 rpm to launch and then just feed in the power. It is all about practice, when you get a better feel for the car you will know how much power to dial in and when. I don't use WOT until 2nd gear. Better tyres and stiffer suspension will help.
