I have a 95 Eagle Talon TSi AWD ont eh stock turbo with some bolt ons. I wan't to put a 14B or 16G in my car and get the 255 fuel pump. Problem is...my back seat isn't there and a custom stereo system is in its place. To take it out would ruin it. What are the other options for installation? Jack the car up and drop the tank maybe? Thanks!

PS: Here are some pics of my back seat/system in case it helps.

Don't forget to do a re-wire of the fuel pump while you're back there.

P.S. Are those Infinity Perfect subwoofers? :sneaky:

Yea I was thinking the tank drop would be it. Someone told me it still wouldn't work though becuase of having to reach up into somewhere...LOL! So this is 100% possible if I can get up on a lift and then have the tank dropped. Hmmm

No those are Audibahn Alum12Q subs. I have Infinity perfect components!

Well however you get too it i would recommend a 3000gt or supra w/ a rewire, quiter than the walboros...........although that doesn't seem to matter because you'll be def soon anyways :rocks:

Bahah I will be def...and I DON'T listen to rap...LOL! :rocks: for real!

Ok now that I know there IS a way to do it I will have to wait for cash which is the story of my life. Can someone or everyone explain this "rewire?" What it entitles. Why so good? and best of yet...WHY!? LOL! Thanks everyone.

Still torn between getting a 14B or 16G. I can't afford much so looks like maybe the 14B since most DSMers I know that the two kinds of turbos laying around are stingy...LOL!

OK, Our pumps rely on certain voltage to flow a certain amount of fuel. Like say a walboro 255, it will flow 255 IF it is getting a constant 12v of power (don't quote me) When you rewire a pump, you are putting in a bigger gauge wire and fuse, ground, to provide more voltage....constantly. I have a 255, but i'm going to drop down to a 3000gt w/ rewire, it will still supply all the fuel I need. Walboro's are great pumps, i'm just trying something new. Hope it helps!!

Somewhere there is a fuel pump chart that explains this all very clearly....maybe RRE?? All I know is that rewiring a 255 is overkill unless you plan on running into 9's or something crazy fast like that.

Our pumps on factory wiring only get like 11.1v, so our pumps will be more effiecient with a rewire

Ahhh thank you very much. So I should just get a stock pump from a VR4 and maybe rewire it? Thanks again!

Well.. you'll have to find a way to disconnect the fuel and power lines from the fuel pump. These are on the top of the tank. I've never looked up there (from underneath the car) so I don't know if you can reach it from underneath or not.

If you're only going to get a 14b, you probably won't need a new pump, just the rewire. If you're looking to go for big power down the road then upgrading the pump is a good idea. Otherwise, people have gone high 11s with the stock rewired pump on race gas using an 18G.

Depending on your goals, but if the biggest your going is a 16g or even a 20g you would be fine with a 3000gt pump. Think about it.........the stock vr4's have 300hp, most people don't even begin to mess with the pump in them until the 35-375 range, so you would be fine. And with a vr4 pump you wouldn't need a afpr, which saves you like 200bucks. The rewire will keep your voltage true, so when you get into higher rpms and loads your pump won't cause you to run lean in the top end!! Hope it helps :thumb:

p.s. Leave feedback!!!

Yea I won't go over 16G for sure! I think I might go with a 255 because I can pick one up cheap from a local DSMer. I will check with my DSM "god" of Pensacola and make sure it is all possible. I have an SAF-C toos o that will help me out plus I would like to get some injectors. Any input on a good size that is efficient enough without overkill? Like I said nothing over 16G. Thanks guys! I love this site!!!

EDIT: Is this a technical discussion? Wanted to give you guys the thumbs up on helpful posts!

It has been said that for a 16G you don't need a pump larger than the Walbro 190. If you get the 255 you'll need to get an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator too, because the 255 will flow too much fuel and will overrun the stock FPR. This causes the fuel pressure to rise, and makes tuning almost impossible. The 190 doesn't seem to do this. Just a thought... AFPRs range from around $150 to $200. I recommend the Import Evolution kit if you decide to get the 255. :thumb:

Here's a link to RRE's page showing the flow rates of several popular fuel pumps. It also explains the voltage versus flow argument.

Yes I was looking at that chart and thought the 255 might be overkill for my needs. Thanks again!

..Just to add to this... Here's another fuel pump comparison chart. It provides data on a variety of different fuel pumps that are available, AND at different voltages (so you can see the benefit of rewiring fuel pump).

Keep in mind that this link is based off of the 3000GT / VR4's fuel system, but never the less, it has a lot of good pump information :thumb:

Hahahahah just thought I would re-visit this thread where I said never going bigger than a 16g. I currently am running an AGPRS48T (50trim) setup and still looking for bigger...LOL!!!
