2g's are bigger and better designed. same design angles, just bigger.

then there's the evo housing, 2.5" and sit's at a wierd angle to the dp.

if the angles are that different how are people running 1gawd dp's on 2g o2 housings?

it just doesn't seem like (and yes i admit they may be different) they are different enough to really matter.

That is because he was talking about the WG passage being at a different angle then that of a 1G O2 housing's... NOT the DP flange's angle. The WG port's angle will not effect the DP's compatibility.

Toward the original question:

The difference in the angle (as mentioned previously) is mostly responsible for the difference in the 2G's O2 Sensor location in the 2G O2 housing. This being one of the other differences that was not mentioned... Using the 2G O2 housing in a 1G will work, but you will need to extend the O2 Sensor wiring about another 6" in order to fit in it's new location (if you look in the pics, you will see a hole in the 2G housing that is next to the DP flange... That hole is for the O2 sensor).

With some O2 sensors (like Bosch), you will have very little clearance between the end of the O2 sensor & the 1G alternator in a 1G car, with a 2G O2 housing... It will fit though. You will need to trim about a 2x2" square out of your lower 1G heat shield in order for the old heat shield to fit with the 2G O2 housing + new O2 sensor location. Otherwise, it will bolt up perfectly.

I didn't have any fitting issue installing a 2g O2 housing on my 1G downpipe. it fits right on it.
The only issue I had was the O2 sensor. it was siting a couple inch lower than usual. I was glad that the O2 sensor wire was long enough to go around the turbo. instead of going above the exhaust manifold.

Agreed, but it should read:

After market 2.5" tubular O2 Housing > Evo3 O2 > 2G O2 > 1G O2

:D

and I agree with him! LOL
