This is a 95 TSi AWD, 5 speed. I hooked up my data logger and I am getting 0 coming from my O2 sensor. I also was hooking up an A/F ratio gauge a week ago and could not get that working. But thy guy i bought this car from i think (not sure why) was rewiring the wires on the O2 sensor. All 4 wires were cut and taped and the color pattern does not match up. I will try to describe that as best as i can on how the wires come from the O2 Sensor into the wiring harness.

4 wires come out of the O2 sensor, a white, white, grey, and black, then not sure why but the wires were cut and then it goes, white changes to blue, then the other white to black, grey to white, and the black to black. Then it has a plug and on the otherside of the plug, this is how those wires match up. white to black, blue to white, black to red and black to yellow.

Now can someone tell me what the wiring scheme should be from after the plug to the O2 sensor. I have another 02 sensor that the wires were not all cut up but if thats the case, can someone tell me a trick on getting off the O2 Sensor. I can not get the sun of a ***** to loosen.

Thanks

It sounds like you have one of those universal 02 sensors. When you use those the color code for the universal sensor is different than the colors on your stock plug. When you buy the universal sensor it comes with a chart that shows you how the wires match up to the ones on your stock plug. These colors may be different for different brands of 02 sensors, so you really need to know which brand you have. Then it should be pretty easy to find a chart or someone else who has the same brand could tell you how theirs is.

to get it loose/out, run the car for like 10 minutes at idle, or driving it to get it to operating temperature. shut thecar off, and use an 02 sensor socket and get it out. i also added a pvc pipe to the length of my wrench handle to give me some more leverage/power to get it out.

OK, I think I am just going to change it out. But here is another problem, my other 02 Sensor is still on one of my O2 housings i have, how do i get that one out. Do I just take a tourch to it and heat it up? Or should I just replace the whole fricken O2 housing because it came off a 95 TSi AWD which is exactly what mine is.

Thanks for all your help guys...

Did you try to unscrew it? I have changed mine twice, both times it took some elbow grease but it came loose. If you are going to junk it anyway, you can cut the wires and use a regular socket. A little heat will help, try to heat the housing and not the sensor. Use some penetrating oil too, let that stuff soak in for a while. If you use both, watch for fires.

Yeah, I have been soaking it with WD-40 for a few days. Did that once before with the O2 Housing to Downpipe bolts and it works MUCH better. I think i may as well get a better O2 housing while I am at it. Then just buy a new O2 Sensor and be done with it. I love my car when it runs right, hate it when it doesn't.
