I was wondering if anyone with a first gen had one of these and how did you like it? Also is it a true 3" piece from start to end? Also I hear there is fitment issues if you get a EVOIII O2 housing. Anyone have one or any type of aftermarket O2 housing. They say it's a direct bolt on if so how does it fit the stock cat unless it necks down? Thanks

If you are talking about the downpipe then I do have one. It is 2.5" right off the o2 flange for about 2-3" then goes to 3" and carries that all the way back. The flange on the downpipe is 3" but i did get the "cat-eliminating" pipe, which didn't even mate up with their "cat-back". The thing performs great though and looks even better. It bolted right in with no fuss. The only thing i can say bad about it is that it touches the Transfer case on AWD cars. It is slowly wearing a spot on the flex section. Gonna leak sometime i know it.

yea those are the same. It is a 2.5" inlet for about 2 inches then it goes to 3" and continues all the way back. It doesn not tapper down where it is suppose to bolt to the cat. I do have an aftermarket o2 housing, but fitment is exactly like stock.

So do you need an aftermarket cat for this or will it bolt up to the stock one and a 3" cat? Also do those first few inches make a difference as far as performance from a dp that is 3" all the way through? I'm thinking about getting the RNR O2 eliminator DP but it's 374.00 thats adding the SS option. WTF. Like if you did a dyno run on a full 3" dp in comparisson to the megan would there be a difference in HP since the true 3" doesn't have those first few inches of it being 2.5? Sorry for all the q's the Megan is looking good right now but I just wanna make sure I don't rob myself of HP from another DP. The price is looking nice to that's why I ask all the q's on it. Thanks for your help. :thumb:

The downpipe may bolt to a stock cat but i doubt it. It is suppose to be a "cat-eliminating" downpipe. I would advise you to either get a 3" test-pipe or a 3" cat. You might have to chop off the 3" flange that is on it and weld on the new cat/testpipe. The 2.5" section is only there so you can get the bolts on the studs of the o2 housing. It doesn't make a difference. My turbo spooled WAY faster with this exhaust then it did with a full 2.5" exhaust. I also have the Megan Racing 3" cat-back exhaust.

Sweet I appreciate all your help. Looks like I will go with the Megan. Btw what type of O2 housing do you have?

Don't worry about the cat, you are in no emissions land.

The stock 1g or 2g O2 housing will bolt up just fine. You might want to port it to match the 2.5" flange.

Well just RR has no emissions think Albq still does. I wanted to get the EVo3 O2 housing just didn't want to have any issues with it bolting on but looks like i should't have any issues. It's time for a DP. :D

The EVOIII housing might not work. The angle is different and you might have problems bolting it on.

Here is a quote from roadraceengineering.com:

They have a slightly different angle at the DP flange. If you already have a 2.5" DP with a slotted flange, it is _possible_ to bolt it up to an EVO O2 housing. Usually it will stress the flex section too much so it should be considered a temporary solution only.

You should not have a problem driving around Albuquerque without a cat unless you are out crusing. I do it every day, no problems.

I am very impressed with megan racing 1st gen exhausts...They seem to look exactly like Apexi N1's except several hundred dollars cheaper and full SS...I plan on getting a full setup myself for my new 1g...For emissions, keep your stock exhaust + cat and then you shouldn't have a problem...It looks well worth the $$$$
