Is there a difference between a FULL Upper IC pipe uprade, and just the short pipe?

I am just curious, if there is really a difference between the FULL IC pipe upgrades out there that replace the entire Upper IC pipe, as opposed to the ones that stop where the flex section begins just after the BOV. I am just curious as I have a spare 1g SMIC and Dejon tools will give me 65 dollars credit for it, and the 2nd section of their pipe costs 79, so after the difference its negligble. Let me know your experience.

Thank you guys for stating the obvious :). I already have a UICP, I was simply asking the performance differences between the two, and how much of a difference there was (IE: throttle response, and power)

Honestly, with your mods, I don't think that flex section is going to seriously hamper you. Your next step up looks to be an FMIC, so I say why waste the loot on that? Granted, it's a few bucks plus shipping, so if you want to do it, go ahead and do it, but I don't think it will make much difference other than some bling under the hood.

I have heard that the stock flexable S-pipe crimps under alot of boost and becomes a restriction. I am not sure about this though.

I agree with the person who said just get save for an FMIC and be done with it.

But I'm sure a full pipe will provide better throttle response and spool.

Compare to just having a DP with a stock cat-back vs a DP and a cat-back.

For such a small amount of money you could go either way. I had a full upper pipe (2 piece HRC) that I really liked, but everytme I had to pull the tranny etc I had to remove the pipe from the TB and rtv it etc. I went back to flex upper half for ease of use. One day a friend of mine hit the stutter box and I watched that hose blow up like a balloon... back to full pipe ;) Now I have VP FMIC with a short TB elbow so I get the best of both worlds. If you are looking for FMIC anytime soon, dont bother since all of those pipes will become obsolete anyway (unless you go with Greddy)

I just replaced my Brode UIC short pipe and flex section with a full BR UIC hard my and OMFG, what a nice difference. Car pulls like a raped ape now :O I'm pretty sure that I didn't have any leaks, unless the flex pipe leaked air through the mesh, oh well. Just do it.

Yes that means I can't drive :/

Bill brings up good point. many times the rubber hose leaks under the mesh. The mesh makes it nearly impossible to find any leaks, since it disperses the air. You dont even bet bubbles with a leak test and saopy water sometimes...
