My brother owns a 91 laser RS-T. All he's done is the free mods. When I looked under the hood to see exactly what hes done, i saw the hose from the stock bcs to the T that goes to the wastegate and the BOV was unhooked. So naturally I hooked it back in. He took me for a ride in it and he said that it was slower than what it was before. I told him what I did and he said he was told by taking off that hose and just letting it dangle there it would increase boost but not enough to harm the engine. I did notice a significant increase in power but he wont listen to me and get the facts straight before he does anything (hes 17) his pump isnt even rewired. He did it today. So could someone tell me if this will cause any type of harm to his engine before he blows it up. Thanks

no guage just the stock. He said the guy that told him to that said that he would be running around 16psi. now with no modded fuel pump or aftermarket with no guage, thats pretty damn stupid if you ask me. Does anyone have an idea as to the psi. I want him to know what hes running so he can realize that he cant do it before its to late. Im running 16psi right now and his car feels like it has more boost. hes just ecstatic with the fact that he can beat big bro and nothing I say can sway him I was hoping maybe someone could give me some info so that he can read it himself:mad:

well I replaced the line from the wastgate to the bcs one day and didn't get a good seal, my manual boost gauge jumped from my set 12 psi to almost 20. this was not good, car went in cut and did not run well. I suspect he is running closer to 20 than 16. I suggest he spend 70 bucks and get a guage pod and manual boost gauge before he plays with the boost at all......

he is allowing the boost to go unchecked with no way of monitoring it. as the turbo makes moreboost, it makes more exhaust, then more boost, more exhaust...et cetera. the wastegate is the check valve that stops the 'feedback' loop and keeps the engine happy and healthy. His is disabled and will make as much boost as his stuff can flow...horribly inefficient and prone to destroy itself.
