Weird Noise

My 1995 Eclipse GS-T is making an odd noise, and I'm not sure what it is. I wanted to check what you guys think before I bring it in to have it looked at.


When I'm sitting still, and I revv the engine up, and then let it go back to idle, before it gets to idle I hear a rattly noise. It's not extremely loud, but nevertheless I can hear it. It sounds like something metal rattling around somewhere.

Also, now when I'm moving (I can only hear it in first or second) I hear the same noise when accelerating.

My guess is that this is all happening at the same RPM point (not sure exactly what RPM it's happening at though)


Any clue what this could be?

Before you really panic, check all your heat sheilds and other assorted bits of metal that could rattle or come loose under vibration.

Hope it helps. Sometimes the simple, cheap solution is the one that works.

Yeah, that's it.. I had someone else come listen and he figured that that was it, vibration in a heat shield / exhaust pipe or hanger...
