what i have been thinking of doing is building a rwd eclipse for the strip/ light street use i wanted to have the motor longitudely mounted so im assuming most of the parts will have to be custom made.In that case ive been thinking about using a jdm evo 5 or 6 motor i see them on ebay all the time for resonable prices i think this would make a very good looking yet unique ride and have the ability to be a blast at the track and the street has anyone ever heard of an evo motor being used in this fashion im willing to spend 10+k on the project and think it could be done wthout being unpractical i figure with all the power going to the rear wheels, wheel spin may help save the drivetrain in the long run my question for the people is ,Will i be able to modify the stock awd transmission to work on a rwd car i ddnt really think it could be done what can i use for a transmisson in this project car how hard would it be for a creative and competent mechanic to complete a project like this any questions or comments would be appreciated i just want to stand out with my dsm with out steping out of practicality id also like the finished project to be "daily driveable" if i felt the urge Thanks

ive seen the clip your talking about im not sure if his motor is longitudely mounted i dont belive it is so i think hes using the stock drive train with the front drive shafts disconnected im not sure about this though

The car in the pic has a broken center diff.. An AWD w/ a broken center diff will behave in this fashion... but it won't last too long. The only person w/ a RWD 1g is Bruce Kwalter... it's the original RWD yellow car from the Buschur stable.

I don't know why you'd want to put a late model evo motor transversly into a DSM. What would be the point? Everything from the motor to tranny adapter back would have to be custom. I know Buschur sells the 4g63 (early style) adapters still... but don't know what you'd do for custom units.

What would be more impressive is when you tree a fully slicked Domestic car that's spraying with your STREET tire DSM "Import". There is no other better way to impress people than with speed. Show cars are queers.
