I have a 95 gsx and just purchased a thermal r&d exhaust.. With this weeks paycheck : ) I am looking for a testpipe which I have found with the flange to weld up to the thermal to eliminate that 2 1/2" section. However now im looking for a downpipe. I plan on running the Garrett t3/t4 turbo in my winter build on my 6 bolt.. I was wondering if there is a downpipe that I can run with my current T25 setup that will still work with my t3/t4. Its the t3/t4 that bolts up to the stock everything by the way.... What should I look for in the lines of a downpipe to work with both setups???? and what do I do about the o2 housing... Sorry if im getting confused..

Great...so there are really no different types of o2 housings besides the diameter inside... And if what you said is true than why does garrett make a note that their t3/t4 turbo bolts up to a stock downpipe.. They wouldnt say that unless their were different types of o2 housings and downpipe setups for the t3/t4.

There are so many options out there.

In case you weren't aware, there are even downpipes that eliminate your O2 housing entirely.

I'd say port that stock piece out like Canadian Tsi mentioned and save some coin for other supporting mods. :rocks:

This is already getting too complicated for a simple question. If you buy a T3/T4 type turbo that specifically says it bolts to the DSM manifold and O2 housing, it will have the same bolt pattern as the T25. So you can buy a massive 3" O2 eliminator down pipe while planning ahead for your larger turbo and it will bolt up just fine to the T25 for the time being.

As for the test pipe, you'll have to search for a specific pipe that's both flanged for your Thermal exhaust and whatever downpipe you end up with and also is 4-5 inches longer than the average test pipe to eliminate that little adapter if your thermal utilizes an adapter like the RSR and Apexi do. If you're Thermal is long enough to bolt to the stock cat in the stock position you won't need that longer test pipe.

I ended up just buying the flanges I needed from RRE HERE and having my local muffler shop weld up a pipe that fits. That way you know it's flanged right, you know it's the right length, and it's removable rather than welded in.
