18-19 is about all the stock turbo will happily do. After that it gets hot.

The worse condition your engine is in the more boost you can run. Don't believe me? When your blowing all the pressure into the crank case anyway, you are less likely to get knock. My friend used to run 21psi on pump gas with a 16G, stock injectors, 90psi compression across the board :)

Hey Batman, what is the safe boost limit for Big 16G on a stock SMIC with stock injectors ? (with UIP and SAFC)

Thanks.

Pumpgas = 19psi - 20psi
Race Gas (116) = whatever the turbo can give

With stock injectors the AFC is virtually useless. Messing with it much (adding fuel) will cause any number of badness, such as fuel cut or bad timing. Your key will be watching knock. 19psi on a B16G probably won't damage anything no matter what but it may kill your timing. Watch the knock and boost away.

Thanks man.
My car has been total weirdo lately. EGT temps on it rise like crazy (up to 1600F*) while cruising at no boost (65-80mph), but will drop under boost. I have richened things up in that rpm range quite a bit (3000-4000 rpm), it helped a bit, but still going too hot unless speed is over 90.

The coolant temp stays at dead center though.

I dont think it would be such a good idea to go that high on the stock sidemount ;) I dare not even push a 14b that high.

I run my 14b at 18lbs right now with no prob at all...
I don't get a fuel cut even with richened settings on SAFC.

I'm about to upgrade though, hence my question :D

The limitations of the stock sidemount on a 1G are well out of reach for most of the people on this site.

Yes, you can run high boost on the stock sidemount, especially with a small turbo like a B16G. I know of a guy who just ran 11s with B16G and stock SMIC. He was running more than 20psi.

over 20psi on a sidemount!?!? I know that runing more boost on the stock sidemount is highly possible with C16, I'm sure you cant be talking about pump gas.

Don't be so sure... People are so dead set on certain stupid things like the max boost you can run with this or that.

Over 20psi on pump with a stock sidemount on a 16G. Been there, done that.
