I tried searching and vFAQ and I couldnt really find anything so here is my dilemma...

I got my buddy to hook up my 190 pump for me a couple weeks ago but the next morning when I went to go to work I blew my ignition fuse. I unplugged the harness to the pump and threw in a new fuse and figured out the problem was with the pump. When I went to take the pump back out I broke the fuel line coming from the sending unit so I got a new one. That came in over the weekend while I was away and yesterday I tried to install it myself. Using the other assembly as a guide I hooked up the wires and pump and everything looked fine to me. I had the power wire and ground hooked up to the top (round part) of the assembly and dropped it in the tank. Tried to start and nothing. Took it back out, put the ground wire on the part that holds the pump (the long part that sits in the tank) and put the power wire where I had the ground and tried again...still nothing.

Now I am out of ideas. I was told I may have shorted out the pump but how would I be able to figure that out?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks. :talon:

When you turn the key to on you should be able to here the pump run. If you can't, use a multimeter or test light to test the circuit. If the circuit is good, get a shop manual ( I like the factory repair manual best0 and reinstall your stock pump and see if you can get that to work. I am not sure what damage would be done to a pump if it was wired incorrectly, but at least the repair manual will help you get it wired correctly.

Good Luck,

Seth

Thanks Seth. I have a shop manual at my garage, if I dont hear it run when I get home I will have to get my stock pump back from my buddy and reinstall it. Thanks.

Car is running. I had the wires backwards on the sending unit. Now I have a leak though on that fitting in the trunk. I cant figure out why. Anyone got any clues? Maybe I crossthreaded it getting the original sending unit out? I have no clue...

If so, anyone know how hard it is to replace that hose?
