I have a 90 Talon TSI, I need to get new throttle bodie gasket and o2 sensor. My motor is from a Glant VR4, and my ECU is from a '92 Talon TSI. I called the dealer and tried to get a o2 sensor but they need to know the production date and all that crap. Should I get a o2 Sensor based on the Bodie Production Model or On the Motor? or Should it be based on the ECU? I know 1990 o2 Read lower or different then other models correct? Also my throttle bodie has the two nipples on top and two on the side is that the earlier throttle bodies or later ones? Its also Once piece so I can't do a FIAV block off...

i would get it based on the model year. even though it is a gvr4 engine (engines are basically the same from 90-92) the connections are different on 91 up cars (at least i think they are... example being i know the cam angle sensor plug is different on 90s... i used to have a 90 talon awd).

oh yeah and about the TB the 2 top and 2 side is early design (90)... i know the gvr4 TB looks similar but minus 3 of the nipples i think (i have had a jdm gvr4 engine before).

I remember reading that at WOT the o2 for the '90 Read different.. like .88 or .89 or sumthing and Fuel Trims are different and "FUEL TRIMS HIGH, LOW, MIDDLE (range of 60 to 140% for 91+ cars, 80 to 120% on 90's)" from TMO. So Since I have a '92 ECU in my car should I go with a '92 o2 Sensor? or is it the sensor that makes the reading different?

i didn't think about that ... probably the 92 then. honestly i don't think there is much difference. i have used o2s sensors from 90-94 on both my 90 and 92 turbos... right now i have a 90 ecu in my 92 tsi and i am using a 92 o2 sensor with no problems at all.

Then Its the sensor that gives the different readings since there are two different sensors available... Early 90 and late 90-94...

I agree about the o2 sensor. I can't be 100% positive they are the same but like i said if you go to any auto parts store and ask them to look up the model i'd be willing to bet they are the same.

Hey, the o2 sensors may peak at different voltages. but I bet they switch close enough to the correct voltage to keep you spot on stoich. I am running a lm-1 wb on my 1990 and using the narrowband input. i've calibrated my voltage and it is read higher by the ecu than the true output voltage. by about .16 volts actually!!! It was the same for my 1992 ecu i installed in my 1990. the fuel trims did not chainge very much (like 1%).
