Is it mandatory to re-wire your fuel lines? I had the 255lph installed a couple of weeks back, and I saw a re-wire kit... Do we get anything out of this rather than better hoses? Thank you.

The rewire kit is for the electrical side of the fuel pump. I may be wrong on the numbers but I believe that the stock wiring limits the pump to only draw around 10 amps or so. With the rewire it will be able to draw the full 14 amps and be used to its full potential. You do have an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator don't you... otherwise you are overrunning the stocker and run the risk of running very rich.

The rewire is for the actual electrical wiring for the fuel pump. The stock power/ground wires for the fuel pump are ~28 gauge! Basically what you do is replace this with 10 gauge wiring as well as a new relay. Pretty simple concept and a fairly simple installation, too.

Thank you for the replies... Learning something new everyday :thumb:

I did my rewire recently, just follow the VFAQ and you'll be done within an hour.

Just go to radioshack and buy everything you need, it won't cost you more than 30 bucks. To pregame, just run the 10 gauge wire from your fuel pump through the firewall to near your battery. then solder in your fuse holder..

then get to work with cutting/soldering/relay. then you're good to go.

I'm actually thinking of a place to put a kill switch on my car too :thumb:
