i have a 91 FWD Talon and am getting ready to put a fuel pump in. i know the pump is on the back of the gas tank and i was wondering what is the most fuel that can be in the tank so it wont spill out?
thanks

jackalope...
If you remove the rear carpet and spart tire you will see the access panel on your floor board for the fuel pump. The pump assembly is on top of the gas tank and removal of the fuel is not manditory. I installed a walboro 255 with 3/4 a tank of gas. Would i recommend doing it this way? No. If I had a second crack at it I would have left the tank at a 1/4 full. You need to go www.vfaq.com and start reading. Here is the link you need to help you install your pump http://www.vfaq.com/mods/pump-WB-1GAWD2-print.html
Next time do more research before undertaking a job like this. :talon:

Unfortunatly, He has a front wheel drive. The fuel pump sending unit is located under the car, On the back side of the gas tank, As he stated. You need to pull your drain plug, Because that is one of the bolts that holds the fuel pump sending unit, To the tank. I learned the hard way. Good luck, Make sure you use pb blaster on the fuel pump sending unit bolts! You won't need that link he sent you, It is for an awd car. If you need any more help, Or have any more questions.. Just ask.

Good luck.

Make sure you run your tank as close to empty as possible. I found out the hard way and had to drain about 7 gallons of gas. :notgood: As for your screws, don't try getting them with a screwdriver, you will most likely strip them out. We used snaptight plyers?? and just hooked them on and twisted them out. Don't reuse these. Go over to Hope Depot and find some small screws and a lock washer to use instead. They go in so much easier.

Also, if you didn't know, lower your tank quite a bit. It makes it so very easy.
