Fort Wayne,
This was the easiest way to get 80 horsepower. You will need a front mounted intercooler and need to find somewhere to get a NOS fogging system. IN simple terms, the nos fogging system sparys nos in the intercooler and supercools the air inside the intercooler. NOS never touches your engine, you just get the benifits!

First off its nitrous not NOS. NOS is a brand name. To my knowledge only NX has a intercooler sprayer on the market right now. HP gains will vary depending on size and type of your turbo and FMIC. You would still pick up more hp by spraying NITROUS into your throttle body.

isn't the fogger system just where you can purge the system to either make sure you have nitrous in the lines or to get them out after a run? that and when it purges it, it creates a mist/fog. but is still induced into the engine not the intercooler

80 hp? you must be smoking crack

believe me, it worked on my 92 tsi. anyone doubt me??ill se you on the track!

and to top it off, im just tryin to help everyone else who doesn't want to ruin their engine by putting NITROUS through it.

how much does that nitrous intercooler sprayer help? how much more hp do you get when its on? how much does it cool the intake air?

I haven't run my car yet with it but here is a quote off of Nitrous Express's website.

"Using either nitrous or carbon dioxide, this unit can reduce air inlet temperatures dramatically. In a recent dyno test, a turbocharged Honda equipped with an NX "N-tercooler" increased its baseline by an astounding 52 horsepower!"

Personally I would like to see Dyno runs before believing the 80hp. Heck here is a 'Tornado' ad
"Save Fuel!
Better fuel atomization results in an increase in gas mileage up to 28%!!!
Increase Power!
Dynometer testing shows up to a 13 horsepower increase! "

if all you're going to use the nx kit for is for the fmic bar then you can have your nitrous bottle filled with co2 and it'll work all the same. of course in SOURCE1064's case you could run dual bottles, one nitrous for the wet kit, and one co2 for the sprayer bar.

This seems like mostly a waste to me. Spraying the intercooler directly with nitrous will probably cool it down some, but because it has to disperse in air, it's not going to be very effective. Also, it's not like you can use it all the time, so the intercooler is going to act "normal" usually, and when you do chill it down, it'll warm back up as soon as you shut the thing off. If you drag race where your car doesn't have time inbetween runs to cool down, it might be useful, otherwise on the road, you're going to need a ton of it all the time.

Is there any real data anywhere? Some numbers that show decreased intake temperatures, or how long the system lasts?

I'd look elsewhere, it just doesn't seem the right way to go. It's the wrong answer to the wrong problem.

A fogger system is where the nitrous is injected directly into each runner of your intake manifold in order to equally disperse nitrous into the cylinders, it has nothing to do with spraying the intercooler or purging. A cheater kit is where you spray it into the intake track somewhere, usually the throttle body. The intercooler sprayer thing is called "N-ter cooler chiller" by NX and what your talking about is a purge kit, which purges the line in order to ensure the nitrous is ready and also when you turn the bottle off it gets rid of excess.

The Lancer Evolution has a water spray for its intercooler which gives a similar cooling effect. I'd say that would be a lot easier and cheaper than messing with nitrous.

A buddy of mine ran his windshield squirter line to his intercooler. We just emptied out all of the washer fluid and filled it with water. The most expencive part was getting a sprayer off a car that has a mist instead of the two jets like most cars. It cost us about five dollars all together, and it makes a pretty noticible difference. Now we just have to figure out how to keep the wipers from coming on every time he uses it.:D

I saw an article in sport compact car where they had a project rally focus (i think) and built their own cooler kit for like 100 bucks that uses water... all they used were : Switch, wires, hoses, 4-gal fuel cell to hold the water, nozzles, a water pressure regulator, and a motor home water pump (I'm sure a winshield washer one will work fine too...) they had it so you could have it spray continually and could vary the pressure/ammt of time the deal sprayed, they said it immediately dropped intake temps by mucho ##'s, cant remember exactly, but it sounds like a cheap easy way to do it...

Technically that is also incorrect. Fogger is also a brand name owned by NOS (Holley) which is given to a particular type of nozzle that NOS sells. NOS Fogger Kit A fogger kit is only refering to a product sold by NOS, no other company sells a FOGGER kit as that name is trademarked by NOS. What your refering to is called Direct Port where there are mutiple nozzles or 1 for each cyinder. However you are correct is saying what he is refering to is a Purge kit.:)

Also a Cheeter setup is from the old days and was a carburated system for old V8's that was easy to install at the track or street or where ever. It has nothing to do with being inside the intake pipe or anything like that. Here is the URL for that. NOS Cheater System What you may be refering to is a Sneaky Pete System

Hope that helps!:thumb:

if you pick up the new Turbo mag they have a built galant VR-4 with intake, exhaust, spearco intercooler, safc, crower cams and ignition, venom intake manifold, and a Garret GT3040 turbo and the NX n-tercooler kit and the car only gained 9.6 horsepower and lost 0.2 ft lbs of torque. it went from 428 @ the wheels to 437.8 @ the wheels.

Manny
92 GSX <- Ems equipped <- will do the windshield squirter mod

so guys to sum things up would it be smart to save up for a fmic on a stock tsi in order to build this kit and use c02 (cost effective) in order to run a good deal of hp or is this not a good idea and just stick to stage 1 upgrades?
