Anyone using SBR's pushlock oil return line?

Long story short, stock return line cracked when I was installing a new manifold. Tried using highpressure hose but the lower return line bolts wouldn't line up so I couldn't get them to thread.

I just overnighted a pushlock system for the mitsu turbos (im on the stock 14b) and was just wondering if anyone had experience using this system or had any problems? I've read a few that have had trouble with the stainless steel line kit having a small kink in it.

I'd appreciate any feedback. Stressing right now because I think I might have pryed to hard on the manifold (which caused one stud to break) and might have push the turbo out of alignment to line up correctly.

I just ordered on for my 50 trim. A friend had one and when he went to take it off he had to cut it because he couldnt pull it back over the push lock. I like it, its cheaper than braided and less trouble.

I just made my S/S Braid lines for under $40 and called it a day. 17 on hose 7 on hose fittings, 10 on Ebay flanges...

Why don't you just cut your stock one, flare both ends, then use some coolant hose with two clamps. Same thing, just 80 dollars cheaper.

Been there, done that bro. I wasted 5 hours of my life not including the $40 I spent to get the cheap way done:

$8 for 1/2 hose and 3/4 transmission oil resistant hose & hose clamps
$10 for 10" 3/8 socket extension to reach oil drain bolts on turbo
$15 for Hacksaw to cut line
$4 for brake cleaner
$3 fast drying RTV

For a grand total of $40.

In the end it didn't line up properly because the line was too strong and didnt bend enough. The problem came when I bolted everything on the top up and when it came time to bolt down the oil pan side, for the life of me it wouldn't line up. That accounted for 1.5 hours of the 5.

So I said fuccit and overnighted the pushlock system.

But please, lets stay on topic. Thanks to all who have commented, anybody else care to share their experience with SBR's or any other vendors pushlock systems?

BTW, coolant hose is not a good thing to run oil thru. It is made of rubber while the transmission line or fuel line you can use is made of neoprene. At the line and fitting specialty store on island, they recommend against using a coolant line for oil.

And yes I can add the cost of an extension and a saw. I didn't have them so I had to buy them. In fact, I'll give you the extension, I would have had to buy that anyway. So $30 then.

That point is futile to talk about anyway, it didn't work for me. Others seem to have success with it, but again my turbo was moved out of alignment ever so slightly and along with my VRS o2 elim. downpipe's placement of the o2 sensor, it was too tight of a squeeze.

Anyone else have pushlock related experiences to share? :)

Jesus Christ.

NO I didn't have a working saw around the house, the one I had broke during a wood working project. I was stressed for time so I didn't have all day to drive around pawnshops trying to save a couple dollars on an extension.

Spent 4 dollars on heater hose, and clamps. Works perfect and is for sale if anyone wants it.

Ha...can't really get a straight answer here, can you? LOL!

I looked into the line a while back. I've never used it, but it seemed a little pricey. I ended up picking up a new OEM drain line for around 50 at the dealer.

Let us know how it works for you.

Tell me about it, LOL.

Well the pushlock system came in today. I'll snap a few pics and of it installed.

The system is really nice, but the BIGGEST and most PITA thing I have ever encountered is getting those damn hoses onto the pushlock fitting. I have the hose being "stretched out" over night on the end of my 3/8" drive ratchet. It could only be pushed down so far. Hopefully its enough to allow it to slide on tomorrow without problems.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the hoses over the fitting? I was thinking if stretching them out overnight didn't work, to put the the hose in some hot water to let it expand then quickly place it onto the fitting. Oiling/lubing it up just isn't cutting it. I'll be emailing SBR shortly to see about getting some suggestions.

OMFG.

Finally got the damn thing installed. After plenty of PRAYING and begging God to help me (seriously, those 2 damn 10mm oil pan bolts were kicking my ass) they finally threaded in. Found the technique.

Didn't end up using the SBR pushlock system, I just went back to using the hacked metal return line and the high pressure hose. Aint that some shiet?

Well I'm gonna call SBR tomorrow and hopefully work something out to either get store credit or partial return. It is a great piece, the only thing that SUCKED was the hose would not go over the fitting without a struggle. After I got one end on and looking inside, the rubber lining of the hose cut a bit and was blocking the line about an 1/8th of the opening. That broke the straw and I said fuggit.

I do however, have to say that SBR has THE best technical service response I've ever recieved and great customer service. I called twice, got an answer twice, emailed one question, and got a response that same day within a 8 hour period.

I'll still post pics of the SBR setup, I might just keep the bolt on flanges for a stainless braided line setup in the future.

Well my questions weren't too technically indepth. Just quick questions that needed to be addressed ASAP and were.

Some people might not like SBR, but every buying experience i've had with them has always been great. As with everything, YMMV.

www.diamondstarmotorsport.com. They sell a push lock return line kit with everything you need and new gaskets for $50. I got mine from there and my oil relocate kit with the block off bolts for $108. I think thats the way to go to keep it cheap and easy.

I know this is an old thread, but I have also had some issues with a pushlock design. I bought the kit from MAPerformance, but when I cut the hose and installed it, there is a kink on the inside of the hose. I am going to attempt to shorten the hose just a little bit and HOPE that takes the kink out, but I am not sure. If it doesnt, that was just a waste of 80 bucks.
