hey, i just took in my car to friends shop to do a timing belt change. they found that the balance shaft belt had snapped, timing did not go off so luckily it did not hit the timing belt and skip a tooth. and also one of the cam gears was cracked, so they said they had to change it and i agreed so they did. well now i have a couple of other problems, the car is still at there shop and when they tried to start it, they could not. now the stock boost gauge always reads full, past 14, and that is when the car is not on and the key is on the "on" position but the car has not been started. when you start the car the boost gauge remains unchanged and stays past 14 even at idle, like the gauge is busted or something. so i need help with this problem. one of the other problems they said i had was the maf sensor in my maft blow thru setup. they say this becuase, when they unpluged the sensor but not the translator, the car started up, idled high, and when you revved the engine, the car would drop in rpms and then you would rev it again and again real fast, like you are about to launch it while the turbo is kicking in. it would blow off the extra air through the bov, but i noticed the bov is louder and hell of more air is blowing out, as if it is boosting higher. but when you plug in the maf sensor to the translator, the cars idle would drop or even die, most of the time the engine would turn off. so it seems to work better when the maf sensor is unpluged but i know the engine will not run right like this, so the mechanic said it is the gm maf sensor, so i went to a parts store, kragen, and traded my gm maf sensor for a remanufactured one, plus i had to pay $100, so much for ebay. kinda looks nice and new. i will go to the shop in a couple of days from now and put in the new maf sensor, if you have anything else i can do or tell the mechanic please feel free to tell me. i really need help and i really would like to thank anybody that took the time to look at my problem and read this damn essay. thanks. and help me!!!! o ya and the car would just idle rough and hit cutoff when i had brought it to them, so everything was working.

With out knowing your setup it is hard to say that there is not other factors but i would agree with your tech at the shop, it sounds to me that the maf or the maft is the problem, make sure that you check the wiring to for bent connector pins brakes and cuts and such

anybody else have a thought to what the problem could be?

well i gave him the benefit of the doubt and bought a refurbished mass airflow sensor, it cost me $80 for the mas from ebay, and another $100 plus the "broken" mas. well the car idled better, the turbo seems to spool up way too fast now but in a bad way, the air coming out of the blow off valve is a lot. when you start from a 1st gear role the car just does not accelerate, when you go above 1,500 rpms the car starts to accelerate but if you push the gas down to much it sputters and starts jaring back and forth. the mechanic says they readjusted the wastegate actuator, but it seems to be boosting much higher now, the stock boost gauge is still stuck past 14 psi from the time i start the car, and while i am driving. i have a feeling the car is somehow putting in too much gas. please help i do not know what it is or where to start.
thanks

1. Fill out your vehicle profile-if you don't know how to then ask.
2. check your translator settings to be sure no-one messed with them. This could be much of the problem except for the belt being mis-installed.
3. Is the shop you went to DSM experienced? Could the belt be off a tooth?
4. get a realboost gauge like an Autometer from Summit or Jegs. Stock gauge is junk anyways, not accurate.
5. I didn't think the stock actuator was adjustable but if it is 1/8" preload should be in the ballpark.
6. MAF's are $50. at yards, maybe less.
7. Find a DSM owner near you that can help. mark
