With a day worth of negotiating w/the mechanics on cheap prices we decided to get some testpipes, some stock evo sleeves and one of the stock intercooler pipes from the evo and made it work. Turbo seems to spool faster and I feel a definite difference! If any one wants to know how we did it let me know I got pictures and I can get into detail with instructions.

Make a tech article for it, and post those pics up. I wanna see.

hey "eazy" that look like some serious bends on the pass. side next to the intercooler. when you test fitted it how did it look if you turned it upside down. i was just curious if you could get a straighter line out of the pipes? or if someone else has tried.

According to your profile you are running a t25 ... I don't think those CAN spool any faster than stock since there already is no lag. OMG Congrats on the install. :thumb:

maybe its more efficient instead of dropping like a rock when the stock sidemount heats. and he is able to feel more torque. at least thats what i think

maybe he put the wrong words. what some one say in a previous post, "might as well use a radiator."

It comes out the same in terms of restriction to be honest. These intercoolers are still way better than stock side mount IC's. The bends don't really bother me to much. The butt dyno reflects the larger IC. Pulls much harder even at 14psi. When 20 psi comes i'll let you guys know whats going on with it.

You got a pretty crappy intercooler. See Text.[/QUOTE]

well 285 whp is good enough for me.still better than stock IMO,and if you get an erufusible deal aka a friend with an evo upgrading, then it's still an upgrade. Now all i need is a friend with an evo.LOL

That means nothing. The stock SMIC has gone 11's.

I find this particularly amusing. You say the horsepower someone made on the IC means nothing, yet you quote a timeslip? There are the same amount of variables if not more when quoting a timeslip. Just because some tin can car did it doesn't make it a realistic benchmark.

Pruven is just flat out WRONG, an evo intercooler on a stock weight evo can go low 11's.

You sure as hell can't do that with 285hp in a 3000+lb car.

I would say it is good for 450+whp.

450HP seems to be the number that's being thrown around, but I so far have not found a dyno sheet to support it. (I haven't looked *that* hard, though.)

I have an Evo 8 FMIC I plan to put on my 2G. I know someone with one on his full weight GVR4 with a 50-trim under the hood, that on pump gas has run mid 12s with easy shifting, and an easy launch.

hopefully a bigger turbo or you'll be pushing hot air

I was replying to his execption to the rule with another.
