cam seal replacement

Do you guys put rtv around the outside of the new cam seals? Mine are leaking so I will take off my timing belt and cam gears and replace the seals again. Can I get away with just taking off the timing belt and cam gears and pull the seals out and press the new ones in, or will I need to take off the valve cover as well and the cam cap? I just replaced the valve cover gasket a few days ago so I'd rather not have to replace that again unless it absolutely needs to come off.

When I did mine, I had to take the valve cover and the caps off to change the seals, I believe I also put a thin layer of silicone on the outside of the seals also. Be sure to put a little oil on the inside lip of the seal that way you don't tear them.

alright thanks. I guess I'll spend the next 3 hours changing cam seals.
