This looks extremely interesting. only problem for me is that im always in boost cause i drive like and idiot. It would be like running around with an open downpipe.

So youd have to buy a cheap 3" downpipe and hack it up to install this?? Still probably cheaper than a full 3" exhaust.

well you can have it on a pipe that is 2.0 to 3.0 but the opening on the dump is 3.0. so i figured that i would buy a 2.5 down pipe and weld this in before the cat. i drive in boost most of the time when i have the car out but this would give me a reason to not to. plus it would be quiet at idle so you don't have to worry about the police looking at a canister and pulling you over for it. i think i want to try it though.

That looks pretty cool. So that GTI has a 3 inch test pipe stepped down to stock size and is cut to fit the VES. It looks like it has a 3 inch down pipe as well. If you get it let me know i am interested. :dsm: :thumb: :dsm:

Ive seen that before and think it is one of the gayest designs for a electronic valve. How is the exhaust supposed to flow at a 90 degree angle?? That doesnt help flow at all and wouldnt only let minimal air out and alot of noise. If it was a y pipe and it angled out normally then I wouldnt have a problem.

I would get this instead. Comes with a 4 year warranty also, as alot of those elecrtonic motors tend to fail due to climate.

Automatic open/close under boost using existing boost source on turbo engine and does not rely on wing nuts or electrical motors.

And you link is bad

Oh yea sorry, the boost idea is cool but having it open all the time under boost would get quite annoying. That is where the electric has is advantages, id take out the wingnuts nad put on some SS lock nuts if your that worried about them unscrewing.

The link is good for me.... Try: www.dmhperformance.com then search around.

ok im looking in to getting my exhaust done somewhat soon and i was looking around and i found this what do you think ? has anyone tried it?

http://atpturbo.com/root/releases/release091004.htm thanks for the input

looks pretty bad ass to me.

by the way this is for my Laser RS-T

Thank you for your find. I would get it and also get a in-car boost controller to control it. Open and close when i say so. :dsm: :thumb: :dsm:

thanks. do you think what GSXTBOY said is true? will it not work cause of the angle that the exhaust would flow? im still pretty interested in this but im going to look in the the link he provided. i saw this on WRXtuners and thought it was pretty badass. im not sure of it's downfalls are so lets keep hearing more opinions. but i thought it was a decent idea.

I am very interested in this...I would like to hear more opinions as I dont really understand flow-patterns too much...

Whoa! That is badass! If it works like it claims... that is sweet. Keep us updated, this might be something to look into.

I would personally go with the electric once that GSXTBOY recommended. It looks like it would flow better when the butterfly is open (no sharp turns for the exhaust to make) and you would have more control over when it opens.

So, every time you hit boost, it sounds like you've split an exhaust pipe? Oh, that's a great idea.

Cutouts are illegal on the street in all 50 states.

And their demo file.... do you FWD guys have to put up with all that squeaking all the time? Or is that just a VW trait.

Where's the guys telling us how crucial backpressure is? I want to hear the one about heat bending valves again, it's one of my favorites.

I dont understand, which setup is the best, and are any of them actually worth it? I dread getting an exhaust, because of looks and most importantly sound. I like the idea of a toggle switch, but also think it would be too much trouble, someone gets beside you so have to turn the boost up and open the exhaust up...just too much bs. Also i'm wondering does the 90 degree angle of the first link posted matter that much?
