Does anyone know if the 3" 02 eliminator downpipes from atr eliminate the cat as well? I've tried contacting them for this answer but havent gotten a response. Thanks.

No, from what I understand they do not. They just eliminate the O2 housing. I have a 3" ATR downpipe on my car, just the regular downpipe, and it is set up with a flange to bolt up to a 3" cat or test pipe. :talon:

Are you running a testpipe? If so, where can I get it in a 3" version that will bolt up to the atr dp? Is a testpipe the same thing as a resonator? I've heard that atr's are pretty loud and would like to quiet it down some.

Right now I run a 3" high flow cat, which is blown apart, I need a new one. But yes, the atr exhaust is pretty loud, especially at wot. I also have their catback system, it's a really nice piece. A testpipe is simply a piece of pipe that bolts up in place of your cat to yield more power through not having the restriction of the cat. Your car will be louder with a testpipe than with a cat. If you want to quiet it down, hava an exhaust shop weld you a resonator somewhere in the exhaust. You can find testpipes on various dsm specialty websites or even on ebay.

No I've actually never heard an RNR before. I hear they are good exhausts, especially the price, but be prepared to wait for it. They're both nice systems, but whatever you get pay a little extra for SS, it's worth it.

How much of role will the type of catback exhaust/muffler I get play on the overall sound? I was hoping to get an rsr exhaust, but I've heard they are only 2.75 inch rather than 3".

Any 3" pipe will sound the same, it's wheter it has a resonator and the muffler that reflect the overall sound you hear. A resonator will make it a bit quieter. Magnaflow mufflers tend to sound like trucks, and the muffler style like on the Apexi N1 or HKS give it a mellower sound. My ATR has a nice deep growl to it, almost like it has cams. I think it's one of the best sounding and performing exhausts for these cars. Check out the dsm video links page in the hangout for lots of clips from various exhausts. :thumb:

Thanks a lot for the help. The only reason I have so many questions about it is because I had already ordered it this morning without even realizing that it didn't eliminate the cat.... So I was debating just keeping it and getting a test pipe or canceling the order. But I think after your positive feedback on it, I'll just toss a test pipe on there and maybe a thermal catback. Thanks again.

No problem, you'll be very pleased with this downpipe. Not having it eliminate the cat is no big deal, you can probably get a test pipe for around $50. Also, Thermals sound really nice, I've heard a couple on 2g's before. :thumb: Good luck with the install and you'll feel that much better the first time you drive it. :D

If you like a loud exhaust then this one is 4 U! I have the ATR turbo back system with a high flow cat. At first it did not seem that loud but now its getting friggen rediculous. I decided to make my own silencer for everyday driving (usually when my g/f is with me) and can pull it out in less than 30 seconds if I want to tear sh!t up. The ATR is "suppose" to be the "best flowing" and "best performing" exhaust for our cars. The price will be to pay for the noise!!!
