Whats better and will make more power having a full 3 " exhaust, Downpipe, straight bac to muffler. or just having it cut off after the downpipe

the best exhaust is no exhaust. the turbo is enough backpressure so dont worry about that. credit to Meh987.

no, no worries about that. 2 reasons why cutt off is better. performanse wise. 1) less restirccion always better. 2) less weigh always better

I hope you want this for drag reasons, cause using it for the street is crazy. damn loud!

"Officer, I just have a really bad exhaust leak that I can't seem to trace"

Quoted from one of the guys on here, but it has worked around here. Some guy runs around like that in an Ls1. We have pretty cool cops though.

If you are referring to a open stock downpipe with stock o2 vs. a full 3"in turbo back. The full 3"in turbo back would be better horepower wise.
The best would be a full 3"in shorty race pipe from the turbo that exits right past the front axles. For race use only. :rocks:

If you are talking performance wise, a cutout will give a better net gain. You can't beat exhaust gases exiting right off the downpipe. It's just like running open downpipe. I have a 3" turbo back and I'm thinking of switching it back to stock and adding a cutout. The noise gets kinda annoying also.

I would prefer a 3in turbo back to a cut-off in a stock exhaust. Sure the cut out has a shorter route but the diameter of the stock 02 and downpipe are pathetic. I think a stock dp is like 1.17" in diameter?

I haven't heard a cut-off setup before but I can only imagine how terrible it would sound. My 3" turbo to apex N1 tip sounds damn sexy ;).

Ideally if you can get a 3" turbo back setup with a cabin switchable cut-out in the downpipe before the cat that would be the best settup.
