hey im looking for a new exhaust like this week. I am looking for something that is stock sounding. - QUIET!

my number one i think is RSR but i heard that it sounds kind of raspy???!? true????
thermal catback.....some people say its loud from outside the car????? CLips????
apexi N1???? LOUD???~!!!!!!

i need your honest opinion about what to choose.....

Really what it all comes down to is the muffler. Some will say put a couple resonators in or something like this but what really affects the sound is the muffler. Your best bet is to find the largest oval muffler you can and slap that on there.

I don't know if you plan on running a cat or not but having one on there will also lessen the loudness. On my car i have an edlebrock rpm series oval muffler that has a tru flow design. It flows almost exactly like a straight through but quiets things down much nicer than the conventional canister style muffler will. :thumb:

www.kteller.com will build an exhaust with a resonator welded in plus a large 5"x8"x18"body with dual outlets(magnaflow) turboback,3"for $6xx. Can'tbeat it.Mark

yeah thanks but i heard like th apexi n1's are incredibly loud and the thermal too. the rsr is quiet but dude said after a month is started to get raspy
:dsm:

I've never heard a raspy sound in any RS*R I've heard...this is why I recently bought one. It should be here today in fact.

Resonators do effect the tone quite a bit.

I have a thermal and i was surprised it was as quiet as it was, Not much louder than stock. I can't hear my turbo spool over the sound of my exhaust. A turbo car with exhaust is much quieter than say a ricer N/A car.

If the exhaust is quiet, why can't you hear your turbo spool?

I can't speak for Mitzmadness but I also have a very quiet exhaust-Magnaflowmuffler(18" body) and a resonator in the "B" pipe. I alsohave a cold airintake with my K&N were the stock IC was. That is what I hear, air being drawn into the intake. With the turbo up front and down low it would be hard for anyone to hear. mark

Seriously, how many different exhaust threads can we have going on at the same time... at the moment, while writing this, there are FOUR different threads on just the Home Page. :|
