I already have the Dejon tool intake pipe that is used with your stock intake pipe.

I just purchased an intake from ebay

What i'm wondering is if I will get the same airflow through my current intake, as the intake from ebay. Also, the inside of the ebay intake is rather rough, will this impede airflow at all? Are the Injen intakes smooth on the inside?

I've got both setups. I hated the Ebay pipe, made my car feel real weak. The amount of heat that aluminum pipe picks up is enormous. Theoretically it should flow more, in reality I didn't notice an ounce of boost pressure increase, which usually happens when you remove intake restrictions. Once ported and smoothed out internally its actually a great flowing piece I'm sure, but the heat conduction is huge. I pulled it off and threw it in a box.

so your saying I should use the dejon tool peice? What are the injen intakes made of?

As your car progresses you will have more options. I once had a dejon pipe, nice quality. Since I have a Front mount IC I used the old sidemount space for my airfilter to keep it away from hot underhood air. I use the GM MAF in a blow thru position so the filter has nothing obstructing it's air intake.
What I have been able is have a 3" aluminum pipe run from my turbo inlet to the K&N filter that is located where the stock sidemount was. Stock slotted plactic shield behind it and a custom grille in front to keep stones and wayward birds out! I avoid driving in the rain but a shield to protect the filter from the water would not be hard to fashion. Mark
PICS AVAILABLE if you email me.

are you sure it was aluminum and not steel? steel absorbs heat aluminum can reject heat at very high temps. maybe it was not a thick enough gauge to reject any heat under your hood.

the ebay intake i'm sure is aluminum

the question i'm asking really is Does the inside roughness on the ebay intake matter at all? Will I get the same air flow as the dejon tool pipe that uses my stock intake pipe as well. And also, is the injen intake smooth on the inside?

and also if the rough inside does matter, what can I use to polish it?

Polish the inside with either a die grinder and/or some 80 grit sandpaper by hand, I used both techniques. You can only get so far down into the pipe though, it takes forever to smooth it out.

You do not want aluminum for an intake pipe to the turbo, believe me. Aluminum transfers heat way too easily from the turbine housing to the intake charge. Stick with stainless or a painted steel, or ceramic coat it or use heat wrap. Its hard to argue that a 3" pipe doesn't flow better than a 2.25" pipe, but charge density is as important as minimizing flow losses. If your running a 16g or T28 then a 2.25" steel intake tube is posing an absolutely minimal restriction. I hated the performance so much I pulled the Injen clone intake pipe off the car, it was a huge waste of money.
