I'm looking for PUMP GAS dyno numbers or track numbers for PTE SCM32, SCM50, SCM60 and anyone else who wants to chime in with your PTE numbers.

I don't want to hear why race gas is better, or if your Green/GT30R/whatever made better numbers. I'm looking at PTE only because a friend can get them cheap.

Any/all help will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Jesse

i went 13.00 @ 110 on a blown PTE 50 trim SCM and i didnt hook up until 3rd gear in an AWD Talon. i know that won't help but the SCM pulls Hardcore. i just replaced it with a PTE SCM 60. let you know how it works out. i am getting it dynoed soon

it's quite a broad question bud. i've had customers go 11's and 12's on variations of the SCM turbos. I think it has gotten to be common knowledge that on a good tune a 50 can go 11's and something like the 61 can go 10's. I will say we don't have alot of experience with the 32. In fact i think we have only sold like 1 of them. The 60 is nice and has a descent spool with a strong top end. If you have any specific questions we'd be happy to help.

A member of SDDSM ran an 11.79 on a SCM50/76. Dyno on race gas was 397 whp

I know it's a broad question, but I searched, and found a few numbers here and there, but not a whole lot.

I was aiming towards the SCM50 until I started reading the SCM61 guys making an "easy" 400awhp on pump.

It is fairly "easy" to make that. You just need all non-half assed parts on there and you'll make it with a good tune. If the parts are there, the car will make power, simple as that. Good luck. :thumb:

The parts are there for it. The only thing I wish I had was a SMIM, but that will come with time (read : money.)

I think I'm going to go SCM61, but I'd still like to hear everyone's numbers with other models.

Thanks a lot,

I have a SCM61 and I love it. I drive it on the street at around 20psi on pump gas and have only lost 1 race (Twin turbo 350 on race gas). The 61 will make tons of horsepower as long as you have the parts. It is a bit laggy but you can get around it through gear selection and clutch usage. I have become a big fan of buying the largest biggest parts first otherwise you will end up buying it down the road.

Awesome. The more I hear about it, the more it sounds like the "right" choice.

As for the "biggest parts," yea, I agree completely. I don't want to have to move up to something bigger in 3 months.

And lag is over rated :p

just curious, how much boost was that 11 sec time you have listed at? I have the same turbo with a built 9:1 6 bolt so I was just curious what numbers / times you were getting and at what boost levels. Thanks.

It's true. That's the way to do it imho. It saves the most money that way. I went from 14b to a 67mm turbo. Do it once with a goal in mind.

You don't know lag on a dsm 'til you've ridden in my car. :p So lag is overrated... sometimes. :thumb:

12.8 here in the rocky mountains. Spun rod bearing and PTE 50trim

The 11.38 was on my old 60 trim. I have yet to put together a clean pass on the SCM61. I was fighting other gremlins last year (warped flywheel and other issues) that prevented me from getting a single clean pass. The SCM61 did go the fastest MPH of 126.49 on an 11.88 pass on 26 psi (had to pedal the car in 2nd gear) so it makes plenty of power.

And for this year I replaced the flywheel and went with a 2900 ACT. I also replaced my dsmlink V2 and GM MAFT combo with an AEM. So once I figure out the AEM and get a good tune, I too expect to see some big numbers Hoping for some 10.9X passes in the 132-135 mph range.

Again, my only advice is not to cheap out on the parts. It will cost you more in the long run if you try to cut corners. Buy the right parts first. I am a big believer in preparing the car for power before putting the power on the car. By this I mean having the built motor/Head/Trans and supporting fuel and intercooler system before putting on the big turbo.

What is the SCM61 rated at in CFM? Looking to size up an intercooler, and finally buy both (turbo and intercooler) and start getting this hunk of crap together.

Thanks a lot,

Jesse

All of the SCM turbos are available with the T04S covers(4" inlet, 2.5" outlet), yes? I thought I saw them somewhere, but I don't remember now...

Not sure on that. On PTE's site, it has T04E covers listed (3" inlet, 2" outlet.) Unless someone else is putting them on, or they aren't on the site?

Fuel/intercoller/trans/head will be setup properly. The only thing I am not touching is the block. Stock '90 block, 150 across the board. I will, however, be running ARP's and an MLS head gasket.

I am looking for 400awhp, maybe a little more, on pump. This is why I'm straying from the 50-trims somewhat. I know they're capable of it, but if the SCM61 can do it with ease, I see no reason not to go with it.

Take the word "ease" with a grain of salt. From some other stuff I've read, people have made 400awhp at 20-21 PSI with the 61.

I knew a kid that made approximatly 420 awhp with a scm61 with a stock intake manifold and stock cams. Stock block too. Obviously other supporting mods as well, but you get the jist. Pretty quick. No dyno numbers, but he trapped 125 not hooking up till 3rd.

It's an *alright* turbo, but if I had to do it with a SC turbo, I would get a t3/t4 version with the less restrictive turbine housing. Cheaper and will make some wicked power.

Why do you care about pump anyway :) Just playing, just watch out for cheap gas staions. They don't care that you have your car tuned on the border of detonation. One bad batch of gas and bye bye pistons
