Evo3 7bolt oil housing and Earls oil cooler(-8lines)
The cooler bolts right up but you need to purchase 2 new bolts as the oem don't fit(1 is too short and the other too long). You also need to drill and tap(1/8NPT) for the oil sender unit. You need to remove the crank and water pump pullies to take the timing cover off. 3(OFH) bolts are exposed but one is under the cover.

Ive been considering installing an aftermarket oil cooler on my car. My question is where do you feed the turbo from? Are you able to feed from the evo3 housing or are you feeding from the head?

Hi,

You can also get them at machV and turbotrix racing. I am looking into that too for my 4g64 setup. Looks nice.

There are two giant hex head cap screws that plug ports on this EVO 3 housing. Which one do you take out to feed the turbo from if you're feeding it from there?

(I.e. which one is after after the filter in the oil path?) They both are extremely hard to remove and I want to make it is the right place to pull from)

Nice, just got my 2.3 6 bolt and it has a 90 filter housing with the external cooler setup that just plugs right in. Definitely made a big difference. My oil temps on my 7 bolt with the stock oil/water cooler would climb to 210 quickly and stay there until I started boosting. The more and longer I boosted, the higher they got. 220...230...250... I've even seen around 280F on long uphill canyon runs, ridiculous. With this new cooler, the oil still warms up quickly ( slower than before but not too long at all) and stay around 170F. A lot of boosting will get temps to about 190F, I've seen 200F once but won't go above that. I'd say that's a good improvement. :thumb:

On my evo they get really cold in the winter like i do not even see 50C but in the summer i don't get much above 70C it seems like the DSM runs much warmer

190 degree Fahrenheit = 87.7777778 degree Celsius

Does anyone know where I can find the owner of the car from that write-up? Its helped alot, but it looks as though the way the cooler is mounted that its not even in the driver side opening. It looks like it sits too far back to be hit by air.

The car belongs to me(white 2g) the cooler sits right in the drivers side opening.

Most of the cooler is exposed.
