I know I have the cas rewired right but I just dont know what it could be? I took a test light to the plug that goes into the coil pack and I am only getting it lit up on one wire and I back probed it after the plug on the coil pack side and I get nothing.what do you think?

Yea, I wanna try the ignition power transistor. Hopefully it will be something simple after all the stress this 6bolt swap has put me through.

Try a new coil. I had the same problem and I fried mine trying to turn it over. Come to find out. I forgot to ground the CAS when I was done. Good luck.

damn, you have to run a ground wire on the cas? please explain what part of the cas you grounded to the chassis, because i have a 90 cas bolted tot he head and I though the cas touching the head would ground it enough. Also, I rewired mine myself, did you run a ground wire from one of the mounting nuts on the head to the chassis? I have one wire before the coil pack plug getting power but after the plug on the coil pack side, i dont get anything with a test light.

From my 2g cam sensor I DID NOT connect the positive or negative. I just connected my blue wire from the 2g cam sensor to the white off of the 1g cam sensor.

From my 2g crank sensor I connected black (2g) to black (1g cam); blue (2g) to the yellow (1g cam) then of course red (2g) to red (1g cam).

I took the ground from from the 2g cam sensor and spliced it to lengthen it and ground to the firewall.

Sounds like a bad coil pack, if it is getting power and not sparking. Which instructions did you follow for wiring up the 1g CAS? If you followed the instructions on RRE's site there is no need to run a new ground, the wires you tap into provide the ground.

I basically did what he did. so the actual cam plug harness was grounded? hmm I will try that

ok, I grounded that cas plug wire and it didnt help. i need to see if I am not getting power or signals from the ecu to the crank angle sensor plug, so that is what i am going to do now. Are there any relay's or fuses that will stop my cas to fire? also I took a test light to my injector plugs and i am not getting anything there either. I dont have my fuel pump relay plugged in, will that have anything to do with it? I need a new fuel pump relay cause mine took a shit and I just jumped the wires off to make sure it is just a relay. what do you guys think about this?

well, it looks like i get to chase the power wire from the crank angle sensor harness back to where there is a broken wire or a short in the circuit. I cant think of why else it wouldnt work.

I dont understand because you said you left the positive and negative alone(on the harness for the 2g cam angle sensor) but then you said you grounded the 2g cam angle sensor harness. I am confused.

Also, no injector pulse either. So I have no injector pulse, no power to the crank angle sensor and no spark. I am getting power to the coil but I believe the coil opens on ground and not power. Anyone have a simular problem?

What I said, or meant to say, was that I didn't connect the neg or pos 2g cam sensor to the my 1g cam sensor.

My problem was that I looked at my problem (which happens to be yours too) way to deep and that's when I got confused.

So just take a step back and not be so frustrated ( I know you are, because I was too)
and take it one step at a time. :thumb:

I thought you were supposed to do it exactly like roadrace engineeering? So you have to connect the positive and negative cam and crank senor harnesses to the cam angle sensor?

do it exactly like this:

nothing needs to be grounded or anything. I think you will need to swap your firing order and injector order as well. I followed that exact diagram on my 97 gsx and it started up right away. Nothing needs to be grounded or anything.

If you are not getting a injector pulse or spark you are not getting any signal from the cam angle sensor. I skipped this problem by just ordering and prefab harness assembly. Make sure to check all power fuses. You will have to swap your 1/4 and 2/3 spark plug wires or you will have a miss fire.

^ Just to clarify, switch plug wire 1 with 2, and 3 with 4. Your post made it sound like you need to swap 1 with 4 and and 2 with 3, which wont do anything. You may also still get the random misfire crap, I do and I plan on taking care of it with DSMLink as soon as I get my ECU socketed.

[edit]
Just realized you have a 98, no plug swapping is required unless you have a 95-96 ECU. You also do not need to swap injector wires.
[edit]

Check all your connections, and if you didn't solder them, go back and do it.

I do have a 95 eprom ecu but I am narrowing down the problem to getting power to the crank angle sensor plug. Actually, I dont think that I am getting power to the ecu. I am going to check that tonight.

If you go to magnus motor sports you can fix your random miss fire by tapping into the barometric pressure sensor and adding and varible resistor. I did it to mine and have had no problems... You are right though the 1/4 and 2/3 was confusing
