I just put my Maft with dejon piping in, what do you think?

200 for the uicp 90 for the intake. long route cause im still on the stock smic for now.

Very nice, did you run into any fitment problems with that ABS box in the way? I'm ordering a FMIC short route piping and a MAFT blowthrough setup, and just wanna see if you ran into any problems with your piping (I know it's different, but the maft will probably be in the same location (I think)

Thanks,
Jason :dsm:

you think u can do a whole write up step by step of what u did...i wana do the blowthu setup but i'm not very good with wiring

its pretty easy to install just take out the old uicp, put this one in tap pin 2 of the cas and mount the translator. I had to take out the throttle body brace to tighten two bolts and positioning the maf to clear the brake lines and conect it to the uicp took lil while the damn coupler didnt want to go on but it fits in a space between 2 abs brake lines.

Stupid question. What are you refering to as "blow thru". I'm still learning and am about to purchase a FMIC and MAFT. What does the "blow thru" setup do compared to a standard maft setup?

blow through setups place the maf sensor after the turbo and bov, just before the throttle body. This enables you to vent to atmosphere as it is metering air just before it goes into the tb, whereas the stock setup meters the air before it gets pressurized, and you are forced to recirculate the bov as the air has already been metered. I hope this made sense.

Blow thru is when the maf is on the IC pipe after the bov allowing u to vent draw through is when the maf is on the intake pipe like the stock setup. I think

Looks Great :thumb:

The blow thru setup allows you, as said previously, to locate a 3"-3.5" GM-MAF between the throttle body and the blow off valve. The stock MAS due to its system of measuring incoming air, by air turbulance, becomes a restriction thus slowing down spool up time. The GM-MAF uses a hot-wire measurement system. Simply put the sensor has 3 wires, the three wires are heated to a predetermined temperature as air flows by it the wire is cooled. This temperature difference is then used to calculate the amount of air passing through the sensor. The translator is then used, not only to power the sensor, but also to translate the output from a magnitude of voltage to hertz.

I was just wonder what performance gains you got out of the gm maft, is it worth it?
does it help spool up alot?

Well yes and no. If you are running larger injectors and you use it to fine tune your car then yes you can make a little more power with it. There are several tuning options on the MAF, you can compensate for your larger injectors by selecting the size of the injectors with a few knobs. You can fine tune your idle, mid, and WOT with another set of knobs. The particuliars can be found on the site. If you use it as your sole method of fuel tuning then the answer is yes. In my case no, I already had a S-AFC to take care of the tuning, I am only using the translate to well... translate. I did it for the spool up, the ability to vent the BOV and the lower restriction. Also it measures the air temp after the turbo which is more accurate than the stock piece, though it does this indirectly.

I noticed better all around performance with my blow thru set up. The top end wasn't noticably better but everything else was including drivability and even gas milage. Having the meter right next to the throttle body makes a hell of a difference.

Actually I just thought of something I didn't think of before. The stock air flow meter reads in Karmann, so what kind of air metering system do I set my S-AFCII for after the MAFT is installed?

Thanks,
Jason :dsm:

no it doesnt even measure air temp, the translator sends the ecu a fixed number of like 80 degrees for the air temp, it never changes. that could be a good thing or bad, but i believe they had to do that cause they may not have been able to translate the temp signal so the mitsu ecu could understand it , or may not have wanted to. i may be wrong on that, but no for sure its a fixed number. same with baromtric pressure senser is fixed to i believe.

the same, karman

not to hijack the thread but ii got my maf-t but havent put it in yet. this is what mine looks like for my 2g. looks like direct plug and play???? is tapping the wire only for the 1g's?
