I bought some 6k miles used 650cc FIC injectors from a 2003 Evo guy. I did some research and everything seemed to say they would fit and are excatly the same but when I took my old injecotrs off the rail and tried to set the new ones in the black the are not snug at all they are very very loose the fit ok in the rail but are not soild in the bloack. It came with "new" bottom seals but they seem to be loose to? please help

How do they compare to your DSM inj's for sizing? I don't know if they are supposed to be the same but someone will be able to confirm that. Mark

Do you have a large black O-ring on the bottom and two small green/blue O-rings on the top of each injector?

Yeah, that's how they look Rob.

It sounds like you have all the O-rings installed correctly. Is the injector not fitting the rail or the head? Perhaps the EVO uses an injector with different dimensions, but I doubt it.

The Evo and Dsm's can share the same injectors just fine. I had a friend who used the evo's 580 injectors and they fit just fine.

I noticed that you have 1990 in your profile. I know for a fact that these come with slightly different fuel rails than all of the other dsms after it. I found this out when i tried to attach my fuel line to the rail and it wouldn't fit right. Maybe this could be the problem.

Are you absolutely sure that they are the FIC 650's from an EVO?

yeah I have a 90' but the thing is they fit fine in the rail they just don't seat well in the head? Yeah they are engraved from FIC with "EVO FIC 125-650".

Well, if you take the injectors out of the rail and just try and put the tips of them in the head do they fit snug then? If so then it's probably the fuel rail. Is there any way that the o-rings that came with them are damaged that would make them not sit right? What about the plastic spacers between the head and the fuel rail. Mine fell off once and when i tried to bolt the rail back onto the head it didn't fit quite right. Then i noticed that one of the little plastic spacers fell onto my intake manifold. if not I would be really frustrated and just start cussing at/flipping off the engine. It won't solve the problem but it may relieve some stress.

Just add some shims or o rings. My FIC 650's were lose, creating boost leak at 15 psi. Now I added o ring above the black rubber pieces and it hold 25psi before the boost leak tester popped off.

It is possible that the bottom seals from the Evo are smaller than on the DSM. The head has been revised and it is possible that those seals won't work on the DSM. Go to the parts store and get some new ones. Usually your old stock ones are all dried up and hard creating a nice boost leak. Also the idea of putting aother O ring on top of that seal could be a good idea but I'm positive if you use new seals you shouldn't have to bandaid it like that.

I used the new seals which came with the injectors. Still leaked.

MADSPEED take Agent Ezzard up on the set of seals. i have had seals not seat properly and by turning the injector the leak stopped. Mark

I found the same problem with my brand new FIC 750s. I corrected the problem by doubling up on the soft insulators on top since there was such a huge gap. Stock ones work just fine when doubling up and voila, no more boost leaks.
