Quick question about an Aeromotive AFPR tuning.

I put my Aeromotive AFPR on my 1G tonight, and it will not go under 40 PSI (vac. hose off) without stumbling. 40PSI seems to be nice, and a little higher seems to idle nicer.

I should be getting it for 37-38 PSI without the hose on, correct?

Need help kind of quick, so I can finish.

It idles fine with the stock FPR on, so I doubt it has anything to do with a boost leak.
 
Stock 1G fuel pressure is 38 psi so if you're planning on running heavy cams and 660's anyway then I don't think 2 psi of fuel pressure is going to make a difference.
 
It doesn't matter what I'm tuning with, because the stock injectors are still in.

With the base fuel pressure, hose off, at 43 or so PSI, it idles better, but I'm now only getting 16 In. Hg. at idle, when I used to get 18 or so. Are these two related? Is this normal for my vaccum to drop like that?
 
I adjusted the base pressure down to 38PSI, messed with the BISS some, and it stutters under driving. I got it to idle at 38PSI, but that's about it.

Any ideas? I would like to get this thing running right by tonight.

tuning would have nothing to do with it it's got to be regulator related, the car acts (at 38psi) like the pressure isn't high enough, either the gauge isn't reading right or there's a problem with the regulator
 
Well, I believe it is the gauge that is bad, since the regulator does rise and lower the pressure. However, I'm getting an entire FTS regulator off of my friend (including gauge) cheap, so the Aeromotive is up for sale.

From what you described, that would be my guess too. There seem to be a lot of problems with these small FP guages.

Welp, finally got around to checking to see if my gauge was reading off. It was - my buddies 1G with a rewired 255 reads 45PSI at idle, B&M gauge mounted on the fuel filter. Bolted my Autometer on, and 80-some odd PSI.

Looks like I'm in the market for a new FP gauge. Any suggestions?
