. I am just weighing out options for a turbo upgrade and seeing as how 14bs can be put into the 12's why not use one if they are cheap. I just wonder how much a new one is, because I have never seen a new one. I can however buy a used(blown) one from a local junkyard for $50.00 but where can I get it rebuilt? and possibly ported at the same time... if you have any info I'd appreciate it Corey..

Forced Performance on their site quotes $300 dollars for a basic rebuild of a turbo. Depending on the shape of everything it could be more or less. Check out their site if you have more questions. www.forcedperformance.com

Actually I have seen that on FP's site before and was hoping for other places, not for any reason just trying to get different prices and options(porting ,clipping, actually would clipping a 14b be worth it?). I guess I should get off my as* and call shops instead of being lazy. The main question is can I buy a new 14b or not, or does someone sell rebuilt ones because I have seen neither. I know of most all DSM sites and I think I have seen every turbo made for a DSM but never once have I seen a new or rebuilt 14b being sold from a vendor. Corey

IMHO it's not worth it to buy a new 14B because for the price you can go buy a new 16G. Ideally you want to buy a decent good working 14B that someone is selling becasue they're upgrading, rather than buying a junk one and having it rebuilt. Check out www.dsmtrader.com and www.thepartstrader.com

Lots of times the rebuild will be more than a new 16g. Take a look at the one you get & open the wastegate flapper & look for cracks then take a look at the turbine housing inlet & look for cracks . Sometimes cracks can be gotten rid of in the porting process . Just my 2 cent s.

Well I guess after the rebuild, porting, shipping, the price of the turbo and all that I might be better off with a T-28 from whichever vendor. Considering they are only around 600-700 with a core and can run with a 14b for sure. I am stilll not sure yet though, I am going to do some more research as if I havent looked at everything DSM related 10 times over allready. Thanks for the insight, Corey
