I have a 6-bolt turbo block, and I am putting thought into removing shafts while block is still out of car. What gains are expected, is it worth it (higher rev???), and I have heard you need to get the bottom end balanced afterwards. What does it run to get the block balanced???

Dont worry about it, just do it while the motor is out of the car. Once its in you WONT want to remove them. I took mine out since the motor was on a stand, and I dont need my balance belt coming off and taking out the main timing belt, especially with 8k rpm redline. That should be the number one reason for doing this mod, but not many people even realize it. I didnt get mine balanced, its not necessary. I got the Mirage stubby oil shaft to replace the rear shaft, and left the fron shaft in to block the oil holes so I dont have to risk anything with the bearings. Note that this does negate any increase in oil pressure you might see with blocking the bearings off completely. The hardest part of the buidup was cleaning the old gasket off the front cover ;) If I had the cash at the time I would have replaced it for the sake of avoidint that hassle, never mind the whole reliablity issue ;)

I would recommend getting the engine balanced, but to to that you need to tear the whole motor down. My motor is balanced with the shafts out and I will tell you what, It REVS quick!! (lightweight flywheel helps). There is some vibration at idle, but as soon as I give it some gas it smotoths right out.
