o2 wastegate confusion?

Here's my question if the Wastegate was mounted on the O2 housing then the gases would still have to go through the outlet turbine to be expelled. Where as if the wastegate was mounted before the turbo that would be the best idea would'nt it? maybe someone can clear this up for me.

Can you clarify your question? Stock, the wastegate is before the turbine wheel. It needs to be before so it can regulate the gases passing over the wheel, thus controling the boost.

i understand, that but have you seen those externally mounted wastegates. I just don't understand whow they are supposed to work

what i meant to say was externally mounted wastegates on the o2 housing.

they work pretty much like a normal internal wastgate. you remove the flapper door, and the external wastegate just sits on the end of a short tube next to the O2 housing. The wastegate opens to let out presure and then less air goes to the turbine. Remember the O2 housing starts as two tubes that combine into one. The exhaust gas has two paths to get into the dowppipe.

1 It can go through the turbine and out the bigger 02 pipe, combine with the smaller O2 pipe then into the downpipe

2 Or the gas can go throught the hole where the stock flapper sits then through a short pipe to the new wategate then back into the main part of the O2(or to atmosophere) and into the downpipe.
