i need help selecting a turbo setup, i am a street person, so i need something very powerful but i cant afford 2 much lag? something like a ball bearing turbo setup i guess?

What are your goals for the car? You don't have injectors listed in your profile, you will need larger ones for a larger turbo. Sounds like a SCM50 (50 trim) would be a nice upgrade for a pump gas car. - Brian

20g. Spools faster than 50 trim but has less up top. Since 90% of people don't run these turbos for all their worth, go 20g.

Evo 16g's are fun too.

I agree the 20g is an awesome turbo... but I think there are a lot better options out there for a lot cheaper. My .02. Check out bullseye-power.com You could get a turbo that's just as capable as a 20g for half the price with a "12 month no hassle warranty" for $80.00 more. ;)

theyres the evo III 16g, or a RS43 (46trim). The 20g is quite expensive, and a bolt on hybrid can be had for the same price or cheaper, and youll have a much larger variety of choices.

you need to research this and decide for yourself, having other people make your mod list isnt a good thing IMO.

hey guyz thanks for all the help, i just now got back from extreme motorsports with a hks vpc to do speed density, a high flow aem fuel rail and 550 rc injectors....so basically my question now is how fast can my car b, and that is my goal- realistically low elevens if possible?

Dan I think you agreed you had a 16g though you did not state which one. 550cc inj's are good for a small 16G, maybe an EVO up to 18 PSI but you will have maxed the 550's out in all likelyhood with an EVO. I don't know about the VPC so will leave that to those who do. I would return the fuel rail as it is not needed for your goal which is not realistic without MUCH work and more than a 16g, big or small. Yes guys recomeded the EVO 16g to you however you never said anything about running low 11's!
I know of guys running low 12's on race gas, 50 trim/660's, sheet metal intake, cams etc.
Low 11's street. Beyond my experienc which would have been by having read about it and certainly not experienced it! Mark

If you know guys with 50trims, racegas, cams, SMIM running low 12's on racegas, tell em they need to learn to tune, or fix what is wrong.

The 550cc's wont be enough IMO for your goal, the fuel rail is 100% uneccessary, the IMO the VPC is quite on the pricey side and for the price you could go dsmlink, or s-afc/maft/keydiver chip. I think you need to read up, and plan carefully before you go blowing more money.

For low 11's on racegas, id suggest a 50trim or larger, but dont forgot cams and all the goodies. I think you need to start with an easier goal, low 11's isnt just something that comes easily.

Hey ANCONOVER you aren't running much different than wieman DSMJIM and I correct myself I believe it was on pump. Point being that low 11's on the street is the exception. RARE exceptin also. Daniel has alot of research to do and needs to comeclean and update his mod list if anything more than n unknown 16G is there.
Say do you drive to Cicero, NY to race anconover? Mark

CORRECTION: To be fair to DSMJim and be plain old accurate he ran a 12.1x on pump, no cams. I misread his specs and the cams are going into an engine being built. My apologies, Mark Sweet

Hey, I did 12.3@111 with a blown suspension, stock cams, stock intake manifold, 23psi, pump gas and the only tuning i had done was on a back road the night previous hehe. Junky 1.89 60fts. And yes, i run at esta in cicero. Im only about 35-40mins from esta.

With the 272's now, magnus manifold, and vp116 id like to think 30psi will yield me decently mid/low 11s.

But i agree, youve got alot to learn/research to do before expecting low 11's. Your going to need to research and pick a turbo you think will meet your goals, i think having others create your setup is ridiculous. Aim for something more realistick for now, and go from theyre.

Well then you can tell Dan the best on what you think low 11's would take. It is not easy or cheap! Congrats on your time. I did not want to start a comparison between Jim's run and anyone elses, you both have runs to be proud of. His was the car I knew a bit about and I knew he ran a low 12. Trying to let Dan know what he would need and how far he was. I would return all of the parts if he can as it sounds like he is a neighbor of the company.
I raced ESTA....back in '79 as in 1979..LOL Buick GS 455 c.i. stock 14.31 with slicks! Auburn is 40 minutes the other side of Syracuse.
I'm hoping my 50 trim will get me into the low 13's with the spearco 2-221FMIC I just got installed. My goals are not lofty. Right now I can't tune. It's strange how tuning is so critical and always mentioned yet there is no sticky on HOW to tune. I'll learn the old fashioned way, trial and error! Mark

18 years old!? i think you're shaving years already andy! You aren't old enugh to need to shave your face..LOL. I've got clothes older than that! You've done well for an 18 year old(Uh-huh!). You must get a nice allowance to have those toys added to the Talon! I'm using my social security checks!! LOL thanks for the smiles! later,Mark
