What does evryone think about the SOUTH FLORIDA PERFOAMNCE MANIFOLD being that it's mild steel? What are the pro's and con's, and the same goes for any stainless steel manifold.

What are some thoughts about the dnp manifold?

The reason i ask is because when i got my turbo kit from agp, I knew the manifold was mild steel. I then put header wrap on it and it really does keep the heat trapped but i think it backfired on me. I say this because i am currently stationed in germany and for me, the average cruising speed on the Bahn is 90-110mph( FOR me). The SPF manifold worked fine when i first wrapped it but i'm geussine that driving for periods of high speed warped the maniflod and im contemplating whether to get another SPF or a DNP. The manifold warped after about 3 months on the car.

Tell me what ya think :talon:

depends on the construction quality of the build. Mild steel expands much less than SS, and many actually like to use mild steel over SS for that reason. If done correctly with a high grade SS youll have no problems. Either is a good manifold, DNP has a 1yr warranty tho.

DNP and SFP are junk, and I've seen two local SFP's crack within 6 months, and seen countless DNP's breaking on the internet. Get a nice one, buy it once.

i know many with SFP's who have had them for yrs without cracking. And ive yet to see anyone complain about a DNP. And they have a warranty. I find many of the same manifolds people oooing and aaaing about cracking. Seems everyone finds other manifolds garbage unless its the one they have. The only manifold i find is total trash, is SS autochrome.

More power to them, but I've still seen TWO SFP's crack in the past 6 months, just locally.

i recommend getting a thick gauged Chromoly manifold and having it HPC or some sort of ceramic coated inside and out. they are not 100% efficient in trapping heat but it is better than dealing with what you got now. i have had Chromoly manifolds before and never had a problem.

I too have seen SFPs crack on some local dsm guys..They all have now swtiched to a DNP and have had no problems..I also have a DNP and it has been great just the fact it doesnt stay shiney and gives off a weird purplish brown color sucks but nonetheless I would recommend the DNP if you had the money.

Thanks for all the feedback but from the sounds of it i would like to get a DNP, but what have people heard about the FULL-RACE manifold. I don't really hear any of the honda guy's complaning and a lot of peopl are copying that manifold design.

SFP/DNP = Junk. You have terrible access to the bolt/stud access, they look shitty, and they crack.

Sure it's nice to have a warranty on a manifold/header, but it sure is a pain to replace it every couple of months.

Some of the best 4g63 headers are from

www.magnusmotorsports.com

www.shearermotorsports.com

Full-Race is very nice in the Honda world, and they are certainly leading edge, but their prices are too high IMO.

ya magnus makes some nice headers, but for our cars those are pretty much full race. and wont fit on a 2 because of there crazy design. right now im using the dnp t/3 o2 mounted wg header and love it. but that is with the 50 trim. with my new turbo gt35r, i will have ams make me a nice new and very well designed header for my car.

Magnus will make you one that fits. Proper headers are more of a one-off thing anyhow, not everyone is exactly the same.

2nd for Shearer. I have seen Magnus, DNP, Full-Race, Love-Fab, and SHearer's Manifolds put them to shame. They need to be scene in person to believe.

I agree youll get the best results from having magnus or shearer make u a manifold. By far some of the best products are made by them. More than some want to spend, but thats mostly because its done with the right materials to last.

wow never heard of them but i know what which header ill be buying next. for that price you can not beat it. alsome find :thumb:

its also nice you could get the option of getting it polished or not with is 100. with that 100 bucks you could get something that is worth it and get it ceramic coated to keep the heat down under the hood.

DNP is locally made here in Rochester, NY and I know the owner quite well. I have never seen the DNP crack personally, and I know of about 10 people using them either for mits turbo's or garrets with wasgates.

This is the first time that I've seen DNP manifolds bashed on. I personally have an SFP manifold jethot coated. I've seen both in person and the DNP looks to be built much better. My SFP runners were very restricted w/the welds penetrating WAY too much. I'd go w/DNP.

i know several people including myself that run SFP with no problems. They offer a warranty against cracking as well.

and whoever said SFP have poor access to bolts are wrong. I have no problem getting to the bolts on mine.

if you get a SFP get it coated professionally, or use VHT flame-proof paint ONLY. ive tried a couple other companies "hi-temp" paint and they were shit. The VHT worked really well and looks good. just make sure you follow the instructions

They obviously don't jig them or fit them properly. I've seen 2-3 SFP's with horrible bolt access, mine included.

The top left two studs/bolts you can't get to. You can't take the nuts off unless you unbolt the whole manifold and shake it and angle it until you can FORCE the nuts off. It is a bad pic, I'll gladly take a better one for you. :)

And like I've already said in this thread, I could give two sh1ts about a warranty against cracking. I want a manifold that won't crack. If you have a custom setup like mine, it's a real PITA to take your turbo and all the other shit off every two months. Of course, when your WG runner falls off, and you and 3 other cars run over your WG/dump, please let me know if SFP warranties it.

You should show a pic of your dump tube so these young ones can flip:)

you should give ams a call if you wanna actully spend your money right, on a part that is worth buying. they make some killer headers for just about anything, 1g with a t/3 housing or t/4, 2g with t/3 or t/4 housing should be out soon ( ;) eric). there alittle more money but you get what you pay for.
