Okay, I did a recent turbo swap, from a small 16g to a 14b turbo. I made sure everything was tight. Now the mistakes:

1.) My oil feed hose is rubber, and has 3 clamps to clamp onto the oil feed line.
2.) I filled the car up with too much oil, when I check the oil it was about 3/4" an inch above the highest mark.
3.) I only have two turbo-manifold studs in, the others are snapped.
4.) There is slight boost leak where the throttle body bolts to the throttle body elbow, around 2psi leak I think???

My car is only boosting at 5PSI in first gear, around 7-8 in 2nd gear, and about 10 in 3rd gear, wtf is wrong? When I drive it and park, I noticed big oil leaks (up to around a pint!), and the car smokes from the engine bay a little bit. THen when I was driving I heard a pop sound, then all of a sudden there is a crap load of smoke coming from the engine bay. I pull the car over, and check everything, and the lower intercooler pipe is soaked with oil, I mean I just squeezed it and I got oil all over my hands. Is my car not boosting the right amount because there is oil in the intake side of the turbo and in the ic pipes? Is my turbo ruined now? (I just installed a 14b w/ zero shaft play!). What do I need to do to fix this? I've worked so hard on this car and it's just not being nice back, I'm only 16 so time is limited due to school and work and I really need a car to drive. Check my mod list if they have to do with anything.
Feel free to email me at [email protected] with help, or call 307-778-7869, I really need this darn thign to run and boost right LOL, thanks~Brandon.

1.) Get a real oil feed line. The rubber hose with clamps isn't cutting it, and you can see for yourself with the oil pooling around the turbo.

2.) That much extra oil won't hurt your engine. The most you'll have is a dipstick blowout, where the dipstick will pop out of it's holder, spewing oil all over your engine bay. Scary as hell the first time it happens, but a couple of inches of safety wire to the power steering bracket will hold it in place.

3.) The snapped manifold studs are the culprit. With only two bolts holding the manifold to the turbo, that makes for one helluva exhaust leak. Any leaks before the turbo, such as leaks at either end of the manifold or leaks around the wastegate opening will kill your turbo performance. If you're handy with some macninist's tools, you can drill out those holes and re-tap them. Otherwise, look around for a replacement exhaust housing for that turbo. It's not that difficult to pull and if you need extra guidance, let us know.

4.) The only way to know for sure about any leaks along the intake tract is to perform a boost leak test. The VFAQ (www.vfaq.com) has step-by-step instructions on how to set it up.

If you're still unsure about the condition of your turbo, just pull off the intake hose and check for shaft play. If you're still making any kind of boost, chances are good that your turbo is still in good working order.
