Exhaust question

What makes that RrRrRrR sound that all the neon and civics with bigass can mufflers seem to have? I'm making my exhaust soon and want a really deep sound but don't want that annoying grinding sound. Is it just the style muffler? I'm basically running straight 2.5" turbo back to a 'custom' muffler system (the mufflers are custom made) and want to stay away from that damned civic noise (and not to bash people with civics either, my friend has sweet 03 si with a greddy intake, header and cat back system that sounds awsome and doesn't produce that 'ricey' sound)

As a general rule, NA 4 cylinders just make a high pitched kinda crappy sound. A turbo is kind of a natural muffler for our exhaust giving is a deeper, better sounding(IMO) tone. I'm sure your exhaust will sound great!

turbos for the most part always sound nice and deep once you have an exhaust on. i put mine on today, the hks carbon ti, it sounds so nice.

I've been seeing dsm's all over whitewater and I've been wondering who's they were. I posted in the section for midwest but never got any reply. I should have my car re-done before it gets warm again (they're calling for snow next week!) and then I'm definatly hitting up HWY100 and HWY26 in Janesville. So many nice cars out thier

In general a normally aspirated 4 cylinder sounds like crap with a high flowing exhaust. Nature of the beast. Once you throw a turbo in the system it acts as a muffler and almost always makes the exhaust note deeper.

maybe but who would move it here? it has nothing to do with performance, hes asking bout how he can make his car sound deep. not like a honduh lawnmower.

yeah i love my turbo b16 in my honda CRX with just a 3" pipe and tial 38mm dump
it is pretty low for a honda due to the turbo

the DSM i had to put a 24" long resonator in i tried to do the same thing with just the 3" pipe all the way back but it really sounded like shit.
