Hey i was wondering if anyone knows if i can take off my stock turbo on my 99 GS-T Spyder and slap on the 18g turbo that i see on dsmtuners, with no other work to the engine. I dont really know much about turbo's yet, And i need to learn. I see that the 16g turbo on the 1g eclipse's are just bolt off/ bolt on. and i was just wondering if i could do it just that easy w/my car?. No one that i have spoke w/has any idea around here.

so i dont acutally need a kit then. i can just get a direct bolt on and be done w/it

Yes there are several direct bolt on turbo's available for your 95-99
Eclipse / Talon.

The swaps on the turbo's mentioned above are pretty simple, having just got done doing one myself. What other mods do you have? I hope your aware theres alot to be done before the swap, not trying to be rude.........

If you want the 18G, you'll need full exhaust, fuel pump, injectors, XBC for sure. Fuel management, FMIC at least to use any of it's potential. If you rewire your fuel pump or upgrade it, you should be able to run one of the T28 variants with no probs. To make any boost, you need to do something about the rest of your exhaust though.

No, I understand that your not being rude. I dont know hardly anything about upgrading turbos. Thats why i am asking so i dont mess up my engine. i do have a 3" cat back thermol exhaust though. what else would i have to do to upgrade to a T28

In all reality, not alot but you'll want to at least get some sort of intake, boost guage/controller, a new BOV and rewire your feul pump and finish up your exhaust to be able to use it appropriately, now to get the most out of it, a bit more is required.

I already had a boost gauge in mind. got any recomendations for a brand name. I already have a K/N intake and an aftermarket blow off valve. im not sure what brand it is because the dude who i bought the car from painted it white to match the car. I also have aftermarket piping from the top all the way down to the stock intercooler. Do you have any idea how much extra horsepower the T28 will give me w/what i have. What do you mean re-wire my fuel pump. Like i said, upgrading turbos is something very new to me.

As for the rewire, go here http://www.raktron.com/fuel/rewire1.html to get directions as to how to do it. It isn't absolutly necessary if your havn't turned up the boost, but since you'll want to get a guage and a controller asap :) this should be done as well. The idea is that the stock wiring to the FP is a very small guage and the voltage drop from the battery to the rear does not allow the pump to operate at it's maximum potential. It's important to have adquate fuel if your turning up the boost so that you dont run lean and begin melting engine parts. This = bad. As for a boost guage I like the autometer one, but there are many to so it's up to you and they all do the same thing. Seriously look into getting some sort of boost control and replace your stock downpipe and cat with something a little better and you'll be set for a turbo. It's hard to say how much actual power you'll gain from swaping a big28 (or something equivalent) in there, depends on boost levels and support but you'd definatley notice a big difference over the t25.

Thanks for the link on the rewire, it is VERY straight forward and i know that that job should not be too difficult at all. Thanks again. When the time comes for the upgrade, ill let you know what i think about the extra boost.

i just put in the walbo 190 fuel pump <Gezzz is that Biotch loud LOL> well anyways will i still need to rewire the fuel pump with the Agp T28 with boost at 17 or 18 psi ??? anyone ??

You will need a basic install kit for a 16g, 18g, or similar turbo. Most vendors have them from $195.00 to $300.00 being a very complete kit. The install is very easy and straight forward.

You will need to keep the boost down without fuel pump, and fuel control. Sounds like you have the other basic mods needed to get started!
