hey maybe u can help me out with this i just got my turbo upgrade went to a td05 18g and a 24" intercooler running around 10lbs boost right now i lost to a STI by a half a car length.i know should be pushing more boost but i have not much engine work done. i said the heck with it and i want to redo the whole motor. Looking to go with a 1st gen 6bolt block with a 2nd gen head. or if there is a place that i can just buy a the high performance engine already done. some help please im new to california need some advice

If you do the 6-bolt swap, just do an entire 6-bolt swap. The head flows better, intake is bigger, and a few other pluses. Do a search on 6-bolt swap and check it out. :thumb:

A Buschur Racing Stage 3 longblock would be my pick if money were of no concern. Of course, there are quite a few DSM engine builders out there. However, I had a tough time finding places through the usual internet search engines when I started looking. I suggest you check out DSMtuners.com's list of sponsors if you haven't already done so. Remember, when pricing built motors, consider the fact that what you're really paying for is a builders experience and reputation.

Since upgrading your turbo, have you dynoed the car? Do you new where the new power curve is at? Are you making power all the way to redline or is it dropping off at 6K? I see you drive a 2WD :thumb:, so getting off the line quickly will take more than just knowing what RPM to launch at. It also means knowing how to feather that clutch which takes some practice. A limited slip differential certainly couldn't hurt things [except for your wallet].

Please fill out your vehicle profile as soon as you get a chance. More than likely there are some relatively inexpensive modifications you can make that will yield moderate or even significant gains. That way you can at least take care of that STi while you're waiting for your new motor. In order to help you we need to know things like:

What fuel mods do you have if any?

What are you using for fuel tuning?

What's keeping you at 10 psi?

Do you have any sort of datalogger?

A datalogger is also a great tool for tracking down problems you might not even be aware of. Personally, I think it should be one of a DSM tuners earliest purchases, like the boost gauge. :laser:
