Anyone running AGP turbo kit on 1g with FMIC?

I'm having to fabricate a new wastegate dump tube because AGP's hits the FMIC piping...do they expect DSM owners to run single-sided intercooler cores where the intercooler hot pipe would be a non-issue? I'm also having to run a 45 degree extension to get the IC piping to clear the alternator. No big deal really...I just hoped this would bolt up perfectly the first time...what was I thinking...nothing fits right the first time on a DSM :p

These cars need about 3" more space between the radiator and the block. Whew its tight in there!

my o2 housing dump also pointed directly at the lower intercooler piping. What a crappy design. I sawed half of the dump tube off and added a crappy flexible exhaust piece I got from autozone and put it on with a standard exhaust clamp. Pretty ghetto but it works. wastegate gasses now exit down past the oil filter towards the ground.

mine "works" but its really damn close. right where the dump tube bends, it hits the rubber coupling on my piping. i just tweaked the piping as much as i could and used some hi-temp heat wrap on the dump tube. it works fine but if i wasnt lazy i would cut and get it rewelded at a different angle

I just took mine wacked it off and lengthed it to exit at the bottom. Then wraped it with header wrap. It only took a few seconds to fix, and any muffler shop could do it for a few bucks if you dont have the stuff to do it.

Keep in mind, we make these as universal as we can. Some company's IC pipe setups may not fit with our dump tubes. We cannot control that. We are working on our own 1G FMIC setup that will work in conjunction with our turbo kit.

You think its tight in the 1g area, shit we got loads of space more compared to the 2g's

Thanks for the reply Ben, I appreciate it. I am having the welding shop route the dump tube in between the turbo exhaust housing and the O2 housing. It should work very well and cost only $30 for the work. Sadly I will lose the beautiful black ceramic coating on the dump :(

I will post pictures of the new wastegate dump setup as well as how I was able to get everything to fit in there (my mandrel aluminum 45 degree bend and coupler should be here from RRE on Friday and the wastegate dump tube will be done tomorrow).

Yeah, my friend's '95 GSX is making my project look like preschool...I don't know how 2g guys do it!

I spoke to Keith at Turbotrix who has installed many of our turbo kits with the BR style FMIC setups. He's NEVER had a clearance problem with our dump tube. He mentioned that it all depends on how far back towards the core support you choose to mount the IC core.

Yeah, makes sense. I am sure it would be a lot less of a problem if I was not running FAL slimlines with a Fluidyne radiator. About 1/2 inch extra and there probably would not have been a problem.

The way I have my wastegate dump routed not only clears the block, but does not come as close to the oil filter or the alternator. Maybe if this was an option with the turbo kit, that would be a good thing ;)

PS I love the black ceramic coating. Whoever does it for you guys does good work :thumb:

I didn't have a problem installing my kit I bought from you guys. The LICP is close to the dump tube by about 1/2". Tight, but it fit just fine.

I think that its in the turbo, I have there T66 T3/T4 setup and a buschur Race FMIC also. I had a little clearnce issue, but nuffin that could not be fixed. We have done worse with other peices from other companys.
