Centerforce disc seperation??

i just bought yet another car this past weekend (93 tsi awd) and the guy i got it from said it had trans probs. i dropped the trans. and came to find out it has a center force clutch kit and a ACT xact flywheel already installed. the bad is that i took the clutch off the flywheel and a ton of rivets fell out when i took the plate/disc assembly off the flywheel and the disc itself is in 3 peices. the clutch is very new and pp looks like it was just put on.

i would imagine the previous owner just toe dropped it, shatterd the disc and didnt want to go and tear it all back down.

my question is has anyone heard of this happening before? i am going to contact centerforce and see if there is a past issue with these, but i would think the disc would hold up better considering the cond. of the assembly. (practicly new)

I have exploded the friction material before. In my 81 vw rabbit the shifter linkage was wore out and I got it to 1st instead of 3rd at like 45 mph and it exploded all the friction material off the disk. Maybee thats what happend.

this is what happened to the centerforce stage 2 in my old Mirage.

The clutch was barely out of the break in period, and I babied the hell out of it.

mental note: Don't buy centerforce clutches. It could be possible that the disc was in backwards and the rivits maybe rubbed against soemthing causing them to loosen and come out?? Just a shoot in the dark.
