Clutch slippage in 1St eagle tsi awd Auto

Hey guys i was in the car with my friends bro car yesterday after the homecoming dance. we were driving and pulled up to a stop light and saw a cavilaer there and u guys know the highschool way to get tehre attention. rev it up and look at them . anyway the light turned green and we were like 4 car lanes at 40 mph and the car just went inot nutral or something by its slef and reved up to 6 grand and cam back down. my friends wanted to know how to fix this and approx how much it would cost. if any of u guys have any info on this it would be really helpful.

Are you saying it slipped out of gear during the 1-2 shift? It might be nothing-- ask again in the A/T forum. When is the last time the fluid was changed, and what kind of ATF are you using?

there are end clutches in an automatic trans. You probably just need to replace those. I'm not an expert on autos though so you should probably post in the auto trans forum and ask those guys.

Yeah, that's why I was asking for clarification. He said 40 MPH, but he also said first gear. The good news is changing the end clutch is cheap and easy.
