Guys quick question! i am finally doing the 4G64 hybrid with 4G63 head. Which head gasket have you guys used? i was looking at the Multi layer steel with 87mm hole since my pistons are the Wiseco k564m87 which is 87mm bore, has anyone had better experiences with something else!
My aim is around 30psi at no more than 7500 rpm, (and using ARP studs)
 
Many guy around here have some problem with cometic. They push coolant at hi boost. Everybody return with the 4 layer and no problem...

DSM jim i have never used the copper gasket and have heard no good thing about them in all my years with high perf cars' the thing i am wondering about is the MLS has a cyl opening size of 87mm and my bore size at 020' is 87mm. that means if the gasket is to the size they say it is it will end up with hone marks on it!
 
I almost installed a cometic on my car when i did a rebuild but i had found a sale with ARP head studs and a Mitsi 4-layer gasket. If your interested in a cometic, let me know... i still got it. 85mm i believe...

Cometic gaskets are awesome. I recommend them to all my customers. SCE copper headgaskets are good, but Istill like Cometic better. For the MLS w/ an 87mm bore, your part number will be C4235HP. MLS is definately better than copper. :thumb:
 
let me put it this way.. when i put my front mount on i wasnt told i needed a higher flowing slimmer fan so i ran the car without it for about 3-4 days in the summer!!!! can you say my car hit the boiling point more than at least 10 times...240 -250 degrees and the cometic head gasket did not blow...not even a drop of coolant came out
 
With a 2.4l Block (87mm bore) you will HAVE to use a 87mm or larger HG (you CANNOT go any smaller). I would also spring the extra 10-15 dollars for HP (high pressure option). One of the vendors who supports this site keeps them in stock. If interested PM me ill let you know who.
 
I have a 6-bolt bored .30 over and i put in a standard mitsu MLS head gasket....Is that fine?
 
I installed a Cometic head gasket as part of my rebuild and it lasted a week until I had major coolant leaks. Pissed me off. :thumbdown I replaced it with the OEM one.

Mostly an FYI, Cometic recommends a surface finish fo 50 Ra or better on both the head and block mating surfaces. This typically isn;t a problem on aluminum heads, but might be an issue if you're using the V8 oriented machine shop 'up the street'.
